You can take the man out of Italy, but you can't take the Italy out of the man. Edmonton's Farren Timoteo (Citadel's Shakespeare in Love, Peter and the Starcatcher) goes back to his Italian family roots in the hilarious coming-of-age story Made in Italy.

The audience goes back in time with Timoteo, to the 1970s, when his Italian father struggled to fit in while growing up in Jasper. Caught between two worlds, a kid with the heart of Rocky Balboa and the moves (and hair) of John Travolta finds his own unique path to adulthood and acceptance.

This one-person show features Timoteo playing 19 different characters and includes real-life and fictional anecdotes and memories, set in a big Italian dining room with a massive dinner table and plenty of photos of Timoteo's actual family members.

Made In Italy was developed by Western Canada Theatre and premiered there on September 8, 2016. Timoteo has performed Made In Italy at theatres across Canada, including at the Citadel's Rice Theatre two years ago. Directed by Citadel Theatre's Artistic Director Daryl Cloran, Made In Italy features everything from Italian arias to Disco dancing (choreographed by Laura Krewski), with plenty of comedy and heartwarming family moments in between catchy numbers.

Made in Italy runs February 14 to 16, 2019 in the Rice Theatre. Limited tickets are available at www.citadeltheatre.com and 780.425.1820. Tickets start at just $30 plus fees and GST.
