We invited Lady Gaga to attend our annual much-anticipated Doggie High Tea at the Le Meridien King Edward Hotel on Sunday, May 29; but, apparently, her schedule didn't allow. So we found her doppelganger - a professional Lady Gaga dead ringer to be our celebrity guest.

Last year's "Doggie Doggelganger" High Tea (which gave 60 celebrity look-alike canines a chance to trot down the red carpet) was such a hit we decided to bring it back again this year - but with a "Going Gaga" twist.

Our colourful High Tea for dogs once again is the Launch to our annual Woofstock festival. Now in our ninth year, we're the largest and most spectacular event of its kind in North America, an eagerly anticipated annual summer party for dog lovers and their pets that attracted over 260,000 people last year.

There are many ways pooches can "Go Gaga." Of course, they can take inspiration from the colourful diva herself and knock off one of her outlandish costumes. But we also know that there are creative canines out there who are panting for an opportunity to challenge the status quo and develop their own "doggelganger" personas. In fact, our chi chi tea is already sold out. There are canine Elvises, Michael Jacksons and Kate and William couples.

Putting on the Ritz
Once again, the King Edward staff will put on the Ritz for the 70 fetching dead ringer celebrity wanna-be's who made the final cut. The venerable hotel will be lavishing them with a spread fit for top dogs. The pooches will strut their star charisma on the ballroom stage before an appreciative audience of fellow "doggelgangers" and their peeps.

The best celebrity look-alike "doggelganger" will receive the royal treatment - a free night at the Le Meredien King Edward Hotel (with their persons of course) during the Woofstock weekend of June 11 to 12.

Inviting all "Pup-arazzi"
Each year we introduce quirky and creative surprises. This year it's the "Going Gaga" High Tea Woofstock Launch. And we're inviting the "pup-arazzi" to this red carpet party at the King Edward Hotel on May 29.

Then of course there's Woofstock itself which takes place June 11 and 12, throughout the historic St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood. Where else can dogs and their people shop for one-of-kind doggie fashion and accessories, furnishings, gourmet treats and spa services? And play, watch - and even take part in - contests and fashion shows while meeting every type of canine imaginable, all at one big outdoor weekend party.

Our ever-popular favourites at Woofstock:

o The Woofstock Fashion Show will once again showcase what every furry fashionista needs in order to be dressed to the canines as top dog models pose on the "dogwalk."

o Not everyone of course can be the next top canine model. But there will be other opportunities for limelight hogs to shine. The Ms. and Mr. Canine Canada Pageant allows loveable mutts to showcase their inner beauty.

o Potential canine idols can vie for top place in the Stupid Dog Trick Contest where talent trounces beauty.

o And the Best Costume Contest is a chance for imaginative pooches to indulge their most flamboyant fantasies.

Each year Woofstock donates more than $25,000 worth of booth space to non-profit charitable organizations such as the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) as well as to over 30 rescue groups. Donations from the "Going Gaga Doggie Doggelganger" High Tea Woofstock Launch will go to WSPA.
