The producers of Spring Awakening announced today that Saskatoon native and Toronto resident Kyle Riabko will return to Spring Awakening on April 14. Riabko plays the role of Melchior Gabor in the touring production of this eight-time Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical, which is playing Toronto's Canon Theatre through April 19. After leaving Toronto, the show will continue on its North American tour (for a complete list of tour cities, visit www.SpringAwakening.com). Riabko had taken a short leave of absence from the show to shoot a television pilot for ABC.

Riabko, 21, joined the touring cast after debuting as Melchior on Broadway in May 2008. In addition, he has released a full-length record on Columbia and opened with performers such as John Mayer, Maroon 5, BB King and others. Riabko's debut album, "The Parkdale Sessions," is currently available. Prior to joining the Spring Awakening cast, Riabko starred as Milo in the Canadian hit "Instant Star" from the creators of "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Additional information is available at his Web site at www.kyleriabko.com

Set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany, Spring Awakening tells the story of adolescent self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers - Melchior, Moritz and Wendla. In a haunting and provocative story, Spring Awakening celebrates the journey from youth to adulthood.

Based on the 1891 Frank Wedekind play, Spring Awakening features an rock-inspired score by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer and choreography by the award-winning Bill T. Jones.
