More than fifty years ago one musical changed the theatre forever. The recent Broadway revival has continued to mesmerize audiences with its timeless tale of doomed love. From the first note to the final breath, WEST SIDE STORY soars as the greatest love story of all time. Directed by David Saint, using Tony Award®- winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction, WEST SIDE STORY remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The new Broadway cast album of WEST SIDE STORY won the 2010 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Show Album. Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the internationally renowned, award-winning Broadway musical, will launch the Dancap 2012 Summer Series at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in July. The classic love story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, a prince trapped under an evil spell, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST features the animated film's Academy Award®-winning score with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, with additional songs with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is the smash hit Broadway musical, inspired by the true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first, and only, time. On December 4, 1956, Sam Phillips, the 'Father of Rock 'n' Roll" gathered these four young musicians at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET brings that legendary night to life with an tale of broken promises, celebrations, secrets and betrayal and featuring a string of timeless hits including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "That's All Right," "Sixteen Tons," "Great Balls of Fire," "I Walk the Line," and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."
Dancap Productions will also offer two bonus shows; a holiday classic and world premiere:
The story from a cherished Christmas movie that has enchanted millions is now a musical spectacular. A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL! chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way towards the holiday gift of his dreams, a Red Ryder Action Air Rifle BB Gun ("You'll shoot your eye out kid!"). A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a double-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between young Ralphie and his Christmas wish.
December 2012 at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts.
