Running over the weekend of February 25th - 27th, Hart House Theatre is proud to host the UofT Drama Coalition's DRAMA FESTIVAL: a Weekend of Competitive Theatre.
Over 70 years since its inception the UofT Drama Festival, now in its 18th year since its revival, continues to provide a showcase for up and coming theatrical talent. This year also marks the 9th Festival of only accepting original student written plays; serving as a much needed outlet for UofT playwrights. The Festival also serves as an accessible avenue for UofT students to perform and direct on the Hart House Theatre stage.
This year's Festival will be adjudicated by Hart House Theatre's own Jeremy Hutton. Jeremy recently directed A Midsummer Night's Dream for Hart House Theatre, but he has also participated as a director, actor, fight choreographer and/or sound designer for close to a dozen of the theatre's in-house productions. Jeremy is the founding Artistic Director for Toronto Youth Theatre; a charitable organization dedicated to giving students the chance to work and perform in a professional theatre setting. His work was instrumental in the development of young people through the practice of theatre. Jeremy is the co-author of three new musicals: A Musical Called Robin Hood (with Halifax's Shakespeare by the Sea), Fairy Tale Ending and ToboR the RoboT (with the young company of TYT). As an alumnus of UofT and of the Drama Festival, Jeremy looks forward to working with the students of UofT, developing their pieces and empowering them to continue to produce their own work.February 25th - 27th, 2010
