FuGEN presents NO FOREIGNERS At Theatre Centre, 2/21-25 ImageHong Kong Exile (Vancouver) and fu-GEN Theatre (Toronto) are thrilled to present No Foreigners, a new interdisciplinary collaboration between the two companies, produced in association with Theatre Conspiracy (Vancouver) and presented in association with The Theatre Centre (Toronto).

Through live performance and a micro-to-macro camera apparatus, No Foreigners considers Chinese shopping malls as racialized spaces of cultural creation and clash. A collaboration between Hong Kong Exile and fu-GEN Theatre (Toronto), two of our country's leading Asian-Canadian performing arts companies, No Foreigners is an exciting new performance work with writing from Governor General's Award laureate for English Drama, David Yee.

Several original stories manifest inside a mall and quickly diverge-catapulting across cities, between languages, in and out of the afterlife, and through past, present, and future. No Foreigners weaves together text, miniatures, and media design as it attempts to unpack what is at the heart of "Chinese-ness" and what the future can hold for all of us as visitors and settlers.

No Foreigners is performed in English and Cantonese, with English titles.

Media / Reviewers are invited to attend Opening Night on Weds Feb 21 at 7:00pm. If you are unable to attend that performance, alternate arrangements can be made.
