After development at Sheridan's Canadian Music Theatre Project (birthplace of Broadway smash hit Come From Away) and a debut at Toronto's 2018 Next Stage festival, the new Canadian musical comedy RUMSPRINGA BREAK! has captured critics and audiences hearts. NOW Magazine calls RUMSPRINGA BREAK! "the most entertaining fish-out-of-water show since that one about Mormon missionaries in Africa" and the Toronto Star proclaims: "the songs by Colleen Dauncey and Akiva Romer-Segal are as addictive and irreverent as the recent cult hit Heathers: The Musical."
Bookwriter Matt Murray (Ross Petty's 2017 Panto A Christmas Carol, Myth of the Ostrich) and songwriters Colleen & Akiva (Prom Queen: The Musical, Bremen Rock City) are pleased to share this exclusive preview of the score, with the standout Act 2 ballad "Wherever You Go, I Will Go". This intense moment revolves around Amish twins Hannah and Ruth, who have ventured far from their sheltered community, only to find themselves in great danger on the mean streets of Buffalo. Separated for the first time in their lives, the sisters must call upon their faith in each other and the spirit of their Amish ancestors in order to save themselves.
Colleen & Akiva recently returned from NYC where they showcased their work on Prom Queen: The Musical the prestigious 2017 NAMT Festival of New Musicals. Prom Queen will also be produced this September at the Grand Theatre London's High School Project. Matt Murray is hard at work writing the upcoming Ross Petty Panto, and his newest musical My Bonnie Lass (a collaboration with multi-platinum award-winning recording artist Johnny Reid) will be presented as part of Sheridan's 2018/2019 season.
