DR. SEUSS'S THE LORAX Begins This Weekend at the Royal Alexandra Theatre Image

David Mirvish will present The Old Vic production of Dr. Seuss's THE LORAX, which begins performances Saturday, December 9, at the Royal Alexandra Theatre and runs through January 21, 2018. The media performance is Sunday December 17, 2017 at 1:30PM.

This stage adaptation of THE LORAX had its world premiere at The Old Vic in the winter 2015/16 and was instantly acclaimed by both critics and audience. Due to popular demand it was scheduled for a return Old Vic run in the fall of 2017 prior to a tour of North America. Toronto is its first stop before playing in Minneapolis and San Diego.

Adapted for the stage by David Greig with music and lyrics by Charlie Fink, THE LORAX is a brilliant riot of eye-popping colour, gorgeous puppetry and infectious music to enchant adults and children alike. This dazzlingly funny, moving, and inspiring show sees the go-getting Once-ler come face to face with the magical, irrepressible, big-hearted, mustachioed critter Lorax in a battle over the beloved truffula trees and the whole of Paradise Valley.

Simon Paisley Day reprises his role as The Once-ler, and David Ricardo-Pearce will play The Lorax along with puppeteers Laura Caldow and Ben Thompson. The full cast includes Michael Ajao, Joseph Alessi, Josh Baker, Jack Beale, Hannah Fairclough, Owain Gwynn, Romina Hytten, Wendy Mae Brown, Kirsty Malpass, Kerri Norville, Ellena Vincent and Silas Wyatt-Barke.

THE LORAX is adapted for the stage by David Greig, music and Lyrics by Charlie Fink, direction by Max Webster, design by Rob Howell, choreography by Drew McOnie, lighting design by Jon Clark, sound design by Tom Gibbons, puppetry direction & design by Finn Caldwell, puppetry design by Nick Barnes, and musical supervision & arrangement by Phil Bateman.
