Composer/pianist Robert Bruce's Stillness and Echoes concert program showcases a rare level of integration between live solo piano music and specially-produced short films/moving images. A particularly engaging kind of multimedia art experience, the concept is a natural but fascinating step forward from the many years Bruce has spent plaYing Live piano to 1920s silent films. "I discovered after so many years that the live piano - silent film experience, when done well, was a uniquely engaging kind of multimedia program for all present, one that was nearly forgotten in the age of recorded soundtracks. With all the experience I have playing to silent films and the fact that much of my music is already very atmospheric and cinematic, in Stillness and Echoes I've created an experience in which both the music and short films are essentially drawn from the same creative well and are conceived from the very beginning to enhance one another. With so many planets already lined up the effect during a performance often becomes so vivid that many people feel they can almost step right into it, which is just wonderful."
