Civilized, The Second City and the historic Montalbán Theatre will present the first of a series of comedy events on September 28 and 29, with live shows featuring iconic material from The Second City archives, original sketches about modern cannabis culture, and The Second City's world-famous improvisation.

The Second City's famed alumni over their 57-year history include: John Belushi, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, and Martin Short, among many others.

"With the end of prohibition in California, we've been waiting for the right partners to help us celebrate," said Brian Loevner, Managing Partner of The Second City. "When we heard that Civilized was launching into events, we knew it would be a perfect fit."

Civilized is a premium digital media and lifestyle brand that expands cannabis culture, reflecting the millions of motivated, productive adults who choose to enjoy cannabis as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Although modern cannabis culture will be the theme for part of the show, the event will also feature the best of the latest generation of famous alumni from The Second City who have made a name for themselves in Hollywood.

"We are thrilled to be presenting this event alongside two legendary companies," said Derek Riedle, Founder and Publisher of Civilized. "And there will be a few more legends to talk about when we announce the cast list."

"The Second City are comedic masterminds, and Civilized is one of the most reputable brands in the cannabis space - of course I jumped at the opportunity to host this event." said GilBert Smith, Executive Producer at the Montalbán Theatre. "And I look forward to working with them again in the future."

Always Legal To Laugh is the first of many Civilized events coming to California this fall. Other upcoming events include infused dinner parties, educational cannabis industry events, and more comedy shows.

The Second City's forays into television and media continues to produce new content and programming, including the classic Emmy-winning comedy series SCTV.

The Montalbán
Built in 1926, it was the first legitimate Broadway-style theatre in Hollywood. Its inaugural presentation in 1927 was an acclaimed production of Theodore Dreiser's "an American Tragedy." By the early 1930s, it was acquired by Howard Hughes. Hughes got out of the movie theater business after only a few years and sold the theatre in 1935 to CBS Radio which needed a home for its local station KNX and its long-running Lux Radio Theatre. The legendary producer/director Cecil B. DeMille was for many years both its producer and host. Currently the theatre is a hot spot for influencers and celebrities, and hosts many of the most well-regarded stage productions in Southern California.
