Civic Theatres Toronto Announces Naming Competition

Civic Theatres Toronto today announced a national public naming competition to replace their existing moniker.

"Civic Theatres Toronto is seeking a new name that better represents their future - a future pushing the boundaries of creativity though artistic excellence, education and public engagement," said Mayor John Tory.

"It's a new era for Civic Theatres Toronto and it's time for a name that captures the excitement and scope of what we will be offering in our future programming. We invite our audiences, artists, creators, producers and business colleagues to submit a new name," said Clyde Wagner, President and CEO. "We're seeking a name that evokes the idea that our organization is where artists, performers, and audiences, of all cultures and interests converge."

The Naming Competition will unfold in three parts beginning with this general Call for Name Submissions (April 9 - April 27). Following the Call for Name Submissions, a distinguished Jury has been recruited who will select up to five Name Submissions. Those names selected by the Jury will then be offered online for a period of Public Online Voting (May 9 - June 3). One individual who submits the winning name will be awarded the Contest Prize that includes:

a) A total of 4 (four) tickets to event(s) at the Sony Centre in 2018

b) A total of 4 (four) tickets to event(s) at the Toronto Centre for the Arts in 2018

c) A total of 4 (four) tickets to event(s) at the St. Lawrence Centre in 2018

If the winning submission is made by a Canadian resident living outside the Metropolitan Toronto region, the prize will include round trip transportation to Toronto for the winner and a guest, two nights hotel accommodation and one dinner for two.
