Since 1993 Cirque Éloize, a Quebec-based troupe, has traveled the world, giving more than 3,000 performances and been seen by more than three million people. And now for the first time, Cirque Éloize brings its acclaimed show NOMADE - At night, the sky is endless to Toronto, April 12 – May 20, 2006 at the Canon Theatre.
Created in 2002, NOMADE has enjoyed resounding success in Montréal, Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, Rotterdam, Beirut, Jerusalem, Hong Kong, and more than 70 cities in the United States. NOMADE reached the 500-show milestone in Holland this fall, and has just completed a European tour, including 10 cities in Italy and a one-month run in Madrid, Spain. Since its inception NOMADE has traveled more than 5 times the circumference of the globe.
Featuring 18 multi-talented performers, NOMADE captures the quintessence of Cirque Éloize, which has brilliantly been able to transport the spirit of cirque performances from under the big top to the proscenium stage of a traditional theatre. Directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, who has worked extensively in Europe, with Canadian companies Carbone 14 and Cirque du Soleil and has recently directed the closing ceremonies of the Turin Olympic Winter Games, NOMADE combines song, music, dance and acrobatics in a celebration of man's wandering spirit and quest for adventure.
NOMADE was filmed for CBC TV and was awarded the Gemini Award for "Best Performance in a Performance Arts Program or Series" in November 2005.
