Canadian Stage will present the North American premiere of Opus by Australia's Circa, a dazzling show featuring 14 acrobats tumbling, spinning and flying to the sounds of Shostakovich's string quartets, played on stage by the Debussy String Quartet. Having recently finished a run at the Barbican (UK), Opus was praised with a 5-star review from The Daily Telegraph calling the show "astonishing to watch: graceful, bombastic, profound. You just gasp, gasp and gasp again."
Since 2006, Circa has toured to 27 countries across six continents. Critics have raved about the company's work, calling the shows 'stunning, exquisite, heart-stopping and electrically charged.' Canadian Stage is thrilled to share their work with Toronto audiences as part of the 2014.2015 season.
Opus will be on stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre from November 12 to 16, 2014, in the place of the previously announced Cirque Invisible, featuring Victoria Chaplin and Jean-Baptiste Thierrée. Due to touring complications, Cirque Invisible will not be presented as part of the 2014.2015 season. Visit www.canadianstage.com/online/opus for performance dates and times. Single tickets for Canadian Stage's 2014.2015 season will be on sale from April 1. Featured productions include the ground-breaking work Helen Lawrence, a remount of Robert Lepage's dazzling Needles and Opium, a new production of The Other Place by Sharr White and more.
