To the delight of legions of loyal, screaming fans, BoyGroove, the original Canadian boy-band, returns for an exclusive Alberta tour! Jon, Kevin, Andrew and Lance are back with music and moves to make the ladies swoon April 14 - 16 at Mount Royal University's Wright Theatre in Calgary. Tickets are available now at Mount Royal University's Box Office via phone 403-440-7770 or www.boygroove.ca.
BoyGroove, a musical chronicling the rise and fall of the eponymous boy-band, takes audiences into the gritty, not-so-pretty rise to pop music fame, from the audition and rehearsal process, to the ego explosion and eventual power-hungry downward spiral. Jon the "bad boy" from Queens; Kevin, the business-motivated leader; Andrew, the environmental activist; and the very Christian Lance, (always on his knees... praying), leave their devotees humming hit tunes like "You Make My Hips Buck" and the squeal-inducing love ballad "Pushin' and Rockin'." Written by critically-acclaimed Edmonton playwright Chris Craddock with music by Aaron Macri, BoyGroove is a fast-paced, crude, side-splitting look at the harsh realities of the music industry.
An !mpulse Theatre production, BoyGroove is directed by Trevor Schmidt and features Timothy Cooper as Kevin, Mathew Bittroff as Andrew, Eric Wigston as Lance and Byron Martin as Jon, with musical direction by Alieda Sekulich and choreography by Jason Hardwick.
BoyGroove runs at Mount Royal University's Wright Theatre (4825 Mount Royal Gate SW) April 14 - 16 at 7:30pm, and April 16 at 2pm. Tickets, $20 for adults, $15 for students/seniors, plus tax and fees, are available now at Mount Royal University's Box Office via phone 403-440-7770 or www.boygroove.ca.
