Theatre Fix is proud to present the critically acclaimed Canadian premiere production, returning to Toronto for a limited engagement after its successful run at the 2014 SummerWorks Performance Festival.
Five migrants from Somalia, Afghanistan and Turkey have paid an Agent to smuggle them across Europe and into England. What price will they pay to complete their journey? Inside a 20-foot shipping container parked behind The Berkeley Street Theatre, Theatre Fix invites Toronto audiences to experience the claustrophobic, dark, and cramped conditions these refugees endure in order to start a new life.
Extremely limited seating is available for shows September 4-18 (previews from August 31). Tickets are $25-$44 and can be purchased online at canadianstage.com or by calling 416.368.3110.
THE CONTAINER brings audiences closer than any camera to the human stories behind the statistics of the global refugee crisis. Dramatizing the final hours of these migrants' journey, the play is a deeply theatrical and nuanced exploration of the impossible choices, high stakes, and desperate hope for a better life that fuel international migrant smuggling networks around the world. Clare Bayley's provocative, unflinching, and empathetic play won the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award. Theatre Fix is proud to welcome Amnesty International Canada as its community partner in remounting this Canadian premiere production.
