BWW Interviews: Cabaret Goddess Sharron Matthews Talks CD Release

Canada's "cabaret goddess" is at it again, back in Toronto after stops in NYC and Scotland for her World Domination Tour and promoting her new CD. To launch the CD Sharron is returning to her "home away from home" at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre to have a party and celebrate her very first release.

If you aren't familiar with the name yet, you should be. SharRon Matthews is a dedicated performer who is being embraced around the globe, and she has plans to hit London, England next. New York loved her at Joe's Pub, Scotland welcomed her whole heartedly at Edinburgh Fringe and Toronto is thrilled to have her return home. BWW spoke to Sharron about the CD release and what comes next for her:

Congrats on your first CD release! What can people expect?

Thank you BWW!!! I could not be more excited! I was working on my show today and people can expect a mixture of my favourite songs from the last six years and a number of new stories and tunes about all my adventures this year - the year of World Domination! It has taken me to New York City, to Scotland and to Love, Loss and What I Wore, to Banff...everywhere! And there will be some old school touches as well including a sing-a-long and the down and dirty chat that I only have with my people at BUDDIES IN BAD TIMES THEATRE. Probably a songologue or two, and of course my two cents on the freakshow that is current popular culture. There will be a wink and a nod to my "You Never Know What Is Going to Happen" style of show that was Sharron's Party!

This is going to celebrate my amazing year and all the support the good people of Toronto have given me, so I hope to see everyone there.

Will you be performing some of the tracks at the party?

Yes there will absolutely be songs from the CD, a whole bunch of them! I am also open to emails, tweets and Facebook messages from people requesting their favourites be performed. What do people want to hear? It is "Stop in the Name of Love?" or "Hotel California"? Or maybe the "Call Me/Roxanne" mash-up? I'm open to ideas!

How can people purchase the CD if they aren't able to come out to the release?

I'm in the process of getting it up on iTunes, CD Baby and all that jazz, but until then people can email me directly through my website at me@sharronmatthews.com and I will get it to them. They can also keep checking out my website to see when it is available for purchase on iTunes, it won't be long!
