BWW is thrilled to offer our readers this unique contest opportunity - a chance to win tickets to THREE (3) very special concerts happening in Toronto in the month of June. See some of the best of the best Canadian talent courtesy of BWW Toronto.
The three concerts are Louise Pitre's La Vie En Rouge, Geoffrey Tyler's Making Other Plans and Theatre 20's Driven to Score. The winner will receive a pair of tickets to each show - three nights of incredible (and free) musical theatre in one month!
Louise Pitre's La Vie En Rouge promises to be a very special evening, in which Canada's award-winning chansonniere will heat up Toronto with an evening of songs in both French and English that will be recorded live for her next album. The song list includes "La Vie En Rose," "The Man That Got Away" and a special version of "I Dreamed a Dream" which she performs in both languages. Louise's show takes place June 1st at the Jane Mallett Theatre at 8PM.
Geoffrey Tyler's Making Other Plans is a very unique evening of songs and stories. The show takes its cue from the old-style French salon, where guests can mingle and enjoy food and wine while having an incredible evening of song. The last salon was a spectacular success and this time around Geoffrey has a new venue in Loft 404, a swank downtown studio. There will be beautiful wines and delicious French pastries, as well as Geoffrey singing music from new, old and yet unknown composers. Mark Selby will accompany him on the keys. Making Other Plans takes place on June 6th at 8PM at Loft 404.
Finally, Theatre 20's Driven to Score is the second in the New Theatre Company's 2011-2012 Concert Series. Their first show, The Story Begins, was an amazing night of theatre that really got people talking about what comes next for this group of talented Canadian artists. Driven to Score will feature three versatile and prolific Canadian musical composers: Leslie Arden, Jonathan Monro and David Warrack with celebrated Canadian author and host Ann-Marie Macdonald. Performers include founding artists Louise Pitre, Ma-Anne Dionisio, and David Keeley as well as Alana Bridgewater, Sterling Jarvis and Yvan Pednault. Driven to Score takes place on June 20th at 8PM at The Panasonic Theatre.
Since all three of these concerts feature extraordinary Canadian talent celebrating musical theatre, the contest will center around learning more about musical theatre and what our readers love. In order to enter, all you have to do is write an email (500 words or less) explaining what you consider to be the most under-appreciated musical theatre song and why. BWW knows its readers love musical theatre, so we want to hear what you think deserves more recognition than it gets! Please send all emails to kelly@broadwayworld.com with the subject line "June Theatre Contest".
All entries will be reviewed by BWW Toronto writer Kelly Cameron, as well as Geoffrey Tyler and Adam Brazier (Artistic Director of Theatre 20) and the winner will be announced no later than 11:59PM on May 30th.
