Today, Tapestry announced a last minute cast change in the upcoming production of SHELTER.

"I am very sad to announce that star baritone, Peter McGillivray, has had to withdraw from the Toronto production of SHELTER due to injury," explained Tapestry Artistic Director Michael Mori. "Peter is an original cast member of SHELTER, and has regularly starred in Tapestry world premieres and with the Canadian Opera Company. We wish Peter a speedy recovery and look forward to working with him again in the future."

Mori continued, "We are very pleased to announce the re-casting of the role of Thomas by local singer, Andrew Love. Andrew recently made headlines when he stepped in, last minute, to play Javert, to great acclaim, in the Mirvish production of "Les Miserables," where he was performing the role of the Bishop. Andrew wowed audiences in his Tapestry debut this March at "Tap:Ex Revolutions" with his grace and beauty of voice and physicality. We are pleased to have him back with the Tapestry family, and to work with him to bring the charmingly neurotic father Thomas to life in SHELTER. Andrew is a smart musician and a well-rounded actor, and I have no doubt he will rise to the challenge and bring a new dynamic to the cast!"

Tapestry, in co-production with Edmonton Opera, presents the Toronto premiere of SHELTER by Julie Salverson and Juliet Palmer, June 12-15 at the Berkeley Street Theatre.

Flirting with the dangerous beauty of science, SHELTER, a darkly comic chamber opera, maps the journey of a family struggling to be ordinary in the atomic age. Under the enlightened guidance of physicist Lise Meitner, Thomas and Claire fall madly in marriage, and birth a glowing daughter called Hope. Hidden away for 21 years, Hope finally emerges to find a mysterious man at her door with a destiny to fulfill.

During the run of SHELTER, Tapestry is presenting a series of free Nuclear events to enhance the theatre-going experience, including Atomicalia, a curated exhibition of material culture items featuring atomic symbols and labels; and an explosive Symposium of pre-show talk
