Adrian Grenier And Mya Taylor Join Jacki Weaver And Cast Of STAGE MOTHER  Image

Film Mode Entertainment and Branded Pictures Entertainment are thrilled to announce the additions of Adrian Grenier(Entourage) and Mya Taylor (Tangerine) to the cast of STAGE MOTHER, a new dramatic comedy, set in the drag queen world of San Francisco. The film is set to go into production on September 14, 2018 in Canada, with much of the filming to take place in NOVA Scotia. Rights for the film will be available at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this month. Film Mode Entertainment's Clay Epstein and Branded Pictures Entertainment founder and producer J. Todd Harris announced the project this spring in Cannes.

Grenier, who will play Nathan, andTaylor, who will play "Cherry" a transgender drag queen,join an immensely talented group of award-winning actors, Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook, The Disaster Artist)andLucy Liu (Charlie's Angels, Kill Bill, Elementary)in STAGE MOTHER.

Grenier, known throughout the world for his starring role in Entouragehas amassed an enormous, faithful following of fans across the globe. He has also appeared in a variety of hit films from Devil Wears Prada, Arsenal, Trash to Fire, Sex, Death and Bowling, and of course Entouragethe film. Grenierbrings not only his unique talent and the interest of global audiences to STAGE MOTHER, he also has a solid track-record of roles in projects with combined aggregate box office earnings in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Taylor, a trailblazer, who has become a transgender icon in her own right, and major supporter of transgender and LGBTQ rightsis best known for her role as "Alexandra" in Sean Baker's 2015 film Tangerine.The first Academy Award campaigns for openly transgender actresses supported by a film producer were launched for Taylor and Kitana Kiki Rodriguez for the film. Taylor won the Gotham Award for "Breakthrough Actor" for her performance in Tangerine, making her the first openly transgender actress to win a Gotham Award. She also won the San Francisco Film Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress, and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for the film. Mya Taylorwas the first openly transgender actor to win an Independent Spirit Award.

With more than two-dozen international awards to his credit, including this year's official TIFF Contemporary World Cinema selection, SPLINTERS,Canadian director Thom Fitzgerald(Cloudburst, The Hanging Garden, Splinters) is at the helm of STAGE MOTHER, penned by San Francisco screenwriter Brad Hennig (The Hot Flashes).

STAGE MOTHERis about conservative Texas church-choir director Maybelline inheriting her recently deceased son's San Francisco drag club. When this occurs, she surprises her closed-minded husband and everyone else she knows by moving alone to save the club from bankruptcy. In this raucous, racy new environment, she begins to open up and find new meaning for her life, even becoming a mother figure to the club's flamboyant performers, until a surprise visit threatens to upend her new life.
