Acting Up Stage Company is entering its seventh year of operations in Toronto. It is dedicated to producing contemporary musical theatre that appeals to new generations of audiences. The company has received Dora Award nominations and critical and audience acclaim for its productions (The Light In The Piazza, A New Brain, Edges, A Man of No Importance, Elegies, john & jen, tick, tick...BOOM!) and continues to prove that musical theatre is still relevant to younger generations.
After the success of the One Song Glory event over the past four years, Acting Up Stage is again seeking participants 19 years old and under for this free training program.
Performance: Sunday, December 12th, 2010
Venue: Toronto Centre for the Arts Studio Theatre
Format: For four Saturdays, participants will take master classes, participate in workshops, and train with professional directors and musical directors who work in the Toronto musical theatre scene. Within small groups, students will have the chance to learn from professionals in the business, developing important skills both in terms of performance and career development. In addition, each student will get the chance to hone their skills working on two musical theatre numbers that they will perform at two final showcase performances at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.
