Seeking the brightest musical theatre performers under the age of 19 for a one night celebration of contemporary musical theatre.

Acting Up Stage Theatre Company is entering its fourth year of operations in Toronto . It is dedicated to producing contemporary musical theatre that appeals to new generations of audiences. Having just completed a run of Elegies: A Song Cycle, the company has received critical and audience acclaim for all three of its shows (Elegies, john & jen, tick, tick…BOOM!) and proved that musical theatre is still relevant to younger generations.

After last year's massively successful One Song Glory event, Acting Up Stage is again holding a one night celebration of musicals starring youth under 19 years old.

Performance: Sunday, May 13th, 2007
Venue: Isabel Bader Theatre
Format Students will be a part of a group opening and closing number and get the chance to perform their own number from the contemporary musical theatre canon. Their work will be evaluated by a professional panel who will then provide a private feedback session. The panelist will include prominent Toronto agents, directors, and casting directors.
Audition Dates Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th

How will it work?

Students will audition with the material that they want to do in the show.  The audition will be for the artistic team (directors, musical directors) who will then choose the performers that they want to be a part of it.  If you are chosen, you will be singing one of the two pieces that you brought in as your performance piece. You will also be in the group opening and closing. Students not chosen for solo pieces may be offered a spot in the opening and closing performances.

Why do I want to be in it?

This is an excellent way to expose your talents to an audience of 500 people in a downtown Toronto theatre. This is also your chance to work with young directors and musical directors on your skills to help improve your performance technique. Finally, the feedback that you will get from our celebrity panel will no doubt help you in your coming years.

What kind of commitment is this?

If selected you will be required to attend three rehearsals (Sunday, April 29th, Sunday May 6th, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday, May 10th 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) You will then need to be at the theatre on May 13th at 1:00 p.m. and remain until the show is completed.
