David Mirvish announces that due to popular demand ANNIE THE MUSICAL will add one more week of performances, extending to June 3, 2018 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre. Performances for ANNIE THE MUSICAL begin April 24 and play through June 3, 2018. This new block of tickets will go on sale Saturday March 24, 2018.

Star Lesley Nicol (best known for her role as Mrs. Patmore in "Downton Abbey") will play Miss Hannigan, Alex Bourne will play Daddy Warbucks, Isobel Khan and Ruby Stokes will alternate in the role of Annie. Carolyn Maitland will star as Grace Farrell, Matthew Hawksley as Rooster, and Kate Somerset How as Lily.

The Orphans will be played by Toronto actors Jahzara Aaliyah, Sienna Civichino, Ella Larivière. Jaime MacLean, Markeda McKay, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Abigail Yvonne Nicholson and Jenna Weir.

Jaime MacLean and Jenna Weir starred as Matilda in "Matilda the Musical" (Mirvish, RSC/Dodgers U.S. National Tour) in Toronto.

The ensemble includes: Stephen McGlynn, Bobby Delaney, Melanie Cripps, Nic Gibney, Ben Harrold, Matt Holland, Nia Jermin, Sinead Kenny, Joshua Lovell, Marios Nicolaides, Anne Smith, Tara Verloop, Katie Warsop and Amy West.

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan's orphanage. Her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Meanwhile, spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie's search for her true family.

The much-loved score includes the classics It's A Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow and Easy Street.

The original Broadway production received seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. In 1982, ANNIE was adapted for the big screen directed by John Huston with a cast including Carol Burnett (who starred as Miss Hannigan), Bernadette Peters and Albert Finney, and in 2014 a further feature film was released, directed by Will Gluck, with a cast including Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx.

ANNIE has book by Thomas Meehan adapted from the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.

The 40th Anniversary West End production was directed by Nikolai Foster, set and costume design by Colin Richmond, choreography by Nick Winston, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Richard Brooker, orchestration by George Dyer and musical direction by Dan Griffin.
