After playing for five weeks to standing ovations and packed houses in Toronto earlier this year, the highly regarded Roundabout Theatre Company production of Twelve Angry Men will return to our city for a strictly limited run of only 16 performances.  David Mirvish is delighted to present this return engagement that will play from June 3 to 15, 2008 at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

"Only rarely does one see the kind of thrilling response to a drama that Twelve Angry Men elicited from our audiences," says David Mirvish.  "Audiences packed the Princess of Wales Theatre, even during some of the worst snow storms of the winter.  Nothing could keep them away from this outstanding production, which is now in its second year of a record-breaking North American tour.
"In fact, the tour was to have ended in May, but because Toronto audiences wanted more, we asked the Roundabout Theatre Company to consider extending the tour and returning to Toronto for a final 16 more performances.  They had exactly the same thought at the same time.
"Everything about this production is, as critics across the continent have declared, perfection.  The acting, the direction, the design – all at the service of a brilliant, razor-sharp script that has set the standard for courtroom dramas. I can tell you, I can't wait to experience this great night of theatre again."

Written by Reginald Rose and directed by Scott Ellis (Roundabout Associate Artistic Director), Twelve Angry Men is the first touring production for the not-for-profit Roundabout Theatre Company.

The cast features: Richard Thomas (Juror 8),Kevin Dobson (Juror 10), Julian Gamble (Juror 3), Mike Boland (Juror 1), Charles Borland (Juror 6), Todd Cerveris (Juror 2), Mike Disalvo (Guard), Thomas Gebbia (Juror 5), James Green (Juror 9), Jeffrey Hayenga (Juror 4), David Lively (Juror 11), Mark Morettini (Juror 7), and Tony Ward (Juror 12).

In Twelve Angry Men a young delinquent awaits sentencing for the manslaughter of his aggressive father.  Twelve jurors are corralled in a room for their deliberations in a murder trial.  One juror feels that there is a "reasonable doubt" - to the frustration of his eleven colleagues - thereby preventing a quick verdict.  During the heated debate, the hidden preconceptions and assumptions of the jurors are revealed.  When faced with playing the hangman, each juror is forced to face himself.

Twelve Angry Men returns to The Princess of Wales Theatre, 300 King Street West, Toronto,  for 16 performances only: June 3 to 15, 2008. Tickets ($30 to $94) go on sale March 1 online at www.mirvish.com and through TicketKing (416-872-1212 or 1-800-461-3333.)
