Thanks to a $107,900 two-year Grow Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, 'Toronto's enterprising One Little Goat Theatre Company' (New York Times) is bringing the company's acclaimed play for young audiences, PLAY: A (MINI) HISTORY OF THEATRE FOR KIDS, to over 17,000 elementary school students in over 100 Toronto District School Board Model Schools for Inner Cities at no charge to the schools. This current school tour builds on the success of One Little Goat's PLAY tour from two years ago, supported by an OTF Seed Grant, which reached 10,000 Model School students. One Little Goat performs at Joyce Public School, 26 Joyce Parkway, North York, Ontario, today, April 26 at 1pm.

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts hosted its second Student Share Celebration for the Disney Musicals in Schools program on Tuesday, April 2. More than 150 students from four local Title I elementary schools performed in the showcase for hundreds of family and friends. The showcase took place in the Center's Dreyfoos Hall.

Utah Opera presents three original operas written and performed by local elementary school students in the 18th annual Children's Opera Showcase at the Jeanne Wagner Theatre on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 6:30 PM in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. Free to the general public - no tickets required.

Runyonland Productions will present A Night of Myths and Hymns, a reimagining of the song cycle by Broadway composer Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza, Floyd Collins) in the newly renovated apse of the University of Michigan Museum of Art. This intersectional work has two performances on April 7th, 6:00pm and 8:00pm. A Night of Myths and Hymns is in collaboration with the Museum of Art's SMTD@UMMA series.

After a three-month selection process, The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati (TCT) has named the newest tri-state area schools that will partner with the JumpStart Theatre Program. The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF), in collaboration with New York City-based companies iTheatrics and Music Theatre International (MTI) created JumpStart Theatre, a three-year scalable program designed to build sustainable musical theatre programs in underserved schools that previously had none.

Elementary school-aged students in San Francisco will be performing selections from their very own operas in a Benefit Concert on April 7th at 3:30pm with the help of some adult guests, including graduate students from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM).

Two beautiful and original South African productions for children aged between 2 to 9 years, will delight the little ones (and their parents), at the Baxter Theatre Centre during the school holidays, from 26 to 30 March, at 12 and 2pm daily.

Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy is now registering youths aged 4-15 for its spring production of Treasure Island. Classes will begin March 26 and run every Tuesday and Thursday until May 16. Led by professional teaching artists, students will take the play from page to stage, learning dramatic technique in a safe and collaborative environment. The program will culminate with three public performances, fully produced and technically supported, at the historic Bangor Opera House, May 17-19. Registration will close March 28.

On July 6, 1863, Civil War Captains Henry Sawyer and John Flinn were sentenced to death while in Libby Prison.  Not only did the men avoid the noose, but Sawyer returned to his Cape May home after the war to build The Chalfonte Hotel. How these brave captains lived to fight another day had something to do with President Lincoln, General Lee, and Sawyer's wife.  

Disney's Frozen JR. is playing at Woodruff School from Friday, April 12th, 2019 through Sunday, April 14th, 2019 at 7pm Friday and Saturday, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. The spectacular 60-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 2013 Disney film and the 2018 Broadway adaptation. The Woodruff School ACE Music cast includes 50 students led by Director Spencer Lau, Associate Director Tanya Nakai, Choreographer John Stephan, Vocal Coach Kayleigh Whitmore, Assistant Choreographer Lindsay Nakai and Casting Directors Jaclyn Pohlig and Sarah Moore.

On March 4, more than 300 elementary students from Clark County schools will have the extraordinary opportunity to sing and dance onstage at The Smith Center as the result of their first experience producing a work of musical theater in their school.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts, in collaboration with Disney Theatrical Productions, has brought its Disney Musicals in Schools program to four additional Title I public elementary schools during the 2018 - 2019 school year. Disney Musicals in Schools is a 17-week musical theater residency that culminates with a 30-minute Disney KIDS musical.

Moorhead's Horizon Middle School Theatre brings the rip-roaring, foot-stomping classic musical Li'l Abner to life at the new Horizon Middle School Performing Arts Center, February 28, March 1st and 2nd at 7:00 pm and Sunday March 3rd at 2:00 pm.

BPA Theatre School enrollment for spring classes is now open for pupils of all ages. Under the fun, clever, and insightful tutelage of Kate Drummond, students (ages 4 - 7) in Creative Drama will explore the elements of theatre and learn to use their faces, bodies, and voices to tell a story. Kate will also lead students (ages 6 - 8) as they learn two song-and-dance numbers and engage in goofy, imaginative skill-building theatre games in Introduction to Musical Theatre.

In an effort to help today's K-5 students develop the resiliency and coping strategies needed to deal with bullying at school, and learn how to manage stressful and pressure-filled situations, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's Education program will be touring Bay Area schools with its award-winning shows Oskar and the Big Bully Battle, and Oskar and the Last Straw.

We'll spin the dial and watch some of our favorite stars throughout history come alive on the BPA stage: From Annie Oakley to Maria Von Trap! From George M. Cohen to John Travolta. From 42nd Street all the way to Madison Avenue North! 

This year's Kids4Kids show at Ephrata Performing Arts Center is a beloved classic: Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's MARY POPPINS, JR. In 1910 England, the most essential fixture in any family's home is the nanny, but with kids like Jane and Michael, the Banks family just can't seem to keep one! That is until the practically perfect Mary Poppins drops in. She'll need more than just a "spoonful of sugar" to help this family take a dose of common sense. She'll also need a fair bit of magic and help from the loveable Bert, who is far more than just a chimney sweep.

San Diego Junior Theatre, the nation's longest-running youth theatre program, announces the premiere of DISNEY'S MOANA JR, directed and choreographed by Junior Theatre Alumna Francine Maigue. The special pilot production is a partnership with Music Theatre International and Disney Theatrical Group and showcases San Diego performers, musicians and technicians all ranging in age from 8 to 18.

Through interviewing a pair of Aladdins and Jasmins, as well as a Genie, the consensus is clear. FL Drama Kids is so much more than learning the steps to putting on a musical. Friendships are forged, confidences built and the instructors/directors create a much-needed, fun and safe haven for kids to be themselves.

Today, Disney|ABC Television and Disney Publishing Worldwide announced the seventh annual Magic of Storytelling campaign, which aims to donate up to 1 million books to First Book , a nonprofit that provides new free and affordable books to educators and organizations serving children from low-income families. Launching today and continuing through March 31, 2019, the campaign aims to inspire families' imaginations, cultivate a lifelong love of reading in kids and bring books to underserved communities across the country.

Ten local Primary Schools have taken part in a Grand Theatre project which saw performance poet and comedienne Emma Purshouse deliver creative writing workshops in schools throughout the year. This inspired them to write short bedtime stories, some of which were published in a book and all of the entries are now on display at the Light House in Wolverhampton until the end of January.

The Ambrose School presents 'The Gift of Christmas' at The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts on December 20th.
