by Jack L. B. Gohn - October 31, 2015

If you view this production as an entertainment for those whose taste runs to Mad Max, to Rocky Horror, and to the movies of Quentin Tarantino (none of which I'm knocking, but let's not call them Shakespeare), then this may be a lark for you.

BWW Review: JULIUS CAESAR Embraces Mother Russia at the Hylton Performing Arts Center
by Hannah Wing - October 19, 2015

'I will do so. Till then, think of the world,' Cassius says this to Brutus in William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar is Shakespeare's gripping political drama about the fall of Julius Caesar in the hands of a group of conspirators led by Brutus and Cassius. Prince William Little Theatre's production of Julius Caesar doesn't take place in the play's traditional time period and this is certainly for the better. In this production, 'the world' that Cassius refers to isn't Rome, but Russia.

In his program notes for Great Lakes Theater's production, director Joseph Hanreddy states, 'KING LEAR, with its titanic range of emotional, vast physical landscape, dark ironic humor and snarl of mysteries, contradictions, ambiguity and paradoxes, render it one of the theater's greatest challenges to realize in performance.' BWW Review: Rice Theatre Program's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING Is Something Special
by Natalie de la Garza - October 9, 2015

William Shakespeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, the granddaddy of all rom-coms, is the story of two courtships: Benedick and Beatrice, both too stubborn and clever for their own good, and Claudio and Hero, both too innocent and naive to not be taken advantage of by the resident villain. It's a classic for a reason, which means that companies mount productions of it all the time. So the question then, when the Rice Theatre Program decides to do a production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, is what are they going to bring to the already crowded table?

BWW Review: Four Clowns Reinvents HAMLET in their Latest Shakespearean Soiree
by Ellen Dostal - September 22, 2015

It's a little uncanny how easily Shakespeare's tragedy lends itself to reinvention by a troupe of clowns and still communicates the full measure of the poet's intent, yet that is exactly what happens in FOUR CLOWNS PRESENTS HAMLET, a guest production at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles. To director Turner Munch's credit, not only does he understand the funny – of which there is plenty in this production – he also knows how to play it off against its polar opposite to create palable dramatic tension. And he does it with surprising finesse.
