SF Opera Lab Presents ROOMFUL OF TEETH and CHAMBERWORKS

Season Two of SF Opera Lab comes to a close this month with two concerts exploring a rich tapestry of sound worlds within the intimate and state-of-the-art Taube Atrium Theater at San Francisco Opera's Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera. The “remarkable vocal octet” (New York Times) Roomful of Teeth makes their San Francisco debut onApril 23 in a sold-out “Shaw & Shakespeare” program co-presented with San Francisco Performances' PIVOT series. On April 27, musicians of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra curate and perform an evening of ChamberWORKS featuring music by William Presser, John Mackey, Anton Arensky and Luigi Boccherini.

 The 34th season of Schwabacher Debut Recitals continues on Sunday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Dianne and Tad Taube Atrium Theater with mezzo-soprano Renée Rapier, bass Anthony Reed and pianist and San Francisco Opera Head of Music Staff John Churchwell. They will present The Woods: A Rom-Com Recital, a series of songs by American composers compiled by Reed into a narrative with original dialogue. The performance will be directed by first-year San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow Aria Umezawa.

SF Opera Lab pops up at the Uptown Nightclub in Oakland on March 23, 2017 with Hands-On Opera, an interactive night of operatic fun and mischief. This SF Opera Lab event, the first to be held outside of San Francisco, will be curated by stage director and current San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow Aria Umezawa and feature performances by Adler Fellows including sopranos Sarah Cambidge and Amina Edris; tenors Amitai Pati and Kyle van Schoonhoven; baritone Andrew G. Manea; bass-baritone Brad Walker; bassAnthony Reed; and pianists Jennifer Szeto and Ronny Michael Greenberg. Dancing will follow the performance with a live DJ.
