Theatres are now allowed to reopen from today, 17 May, with social distancing. From 21 June, shows will be able to perform to full audiences. To celebrate the return to live theatre, the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) has launched an outdoor advertising campaign, #BackOnStage.

It has been announced that the West End production of Hairspray will now open at the London Coliseum on 22 June and run through 29 September 2021. The production will star Michael Ball as Edna Turnblad, alongside Paul Merton, who will be making his West End musical debut as Edna's husband, Wilbur.
