Fashion Photo of the Day 3/10/2014: Zosia Mamet by Rachel Stone - March 10, 2014 I am so glad this winter is almost over, not only because I am so ready for some warm weather, but because I find it impossible to look good in the cold weather. I am not one who has successfully mastered the 'winter chic' look with the proper accessories. I find that when it's 20 degrees out function always beats fashion. And when I see girls still opting for fashion I am always laughing to myself while secretly jealous. Fashion is pain, right? Fashion Photo of the Day 3/5/14 - Kristen Bell by Rachel Stone - March 5, 2014 I sort of wish Kristen Bell wore this dress to the Oscars Sunday night and not just to the Vanity Fair after party. I really liked her first dress but I love this dress. To me it makes more of a statement and has a lot more drama. I get why she wore the soft Roberto Cavalli dress to the Oscars. It was a little fancier and as she said on the red carpet, reminded her of Frozen. And she really did look very beautiful. But in a sea of soft, sequined dresses that night, she kind of just blended in, as did quite a few stars. But this red dress, wow! Fashion Photo of the Day 3/4/14 - Charlize Theron by Rachel Stone - March 4, 2014 I know a lot of the fashion commentators on TV say not to wear black on the carpet, that if can come off a little safe, boring, etc. But this Christian Dior gown is anything but safe or boring. And I always maintain that there is nothing more classic than a perfectly fitted black dress. Charlize Theron was one of my absolute favorites Sunday night. This dress fit her so perfectly and the design is wonderful twist on a chic silhouette. Fashion Photo of the Day 3/3/14 - Kate Hudson by Rachel Stone - March 3, 2014 When I saw Kate Hudson hit the carpet during last night's red carpet arrivals at the 86th Annual Academy Awards I gasped. She literally took my breath away with her beauty! If you were to look up 'Hollywood Glamour' in the dictionary I am pretty confident this picture would be there. There is magic happening in this look that is so hard to get right. It is that perfect combination of style, beauty, design and that one element that pushes it over the edge. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/28/14 - Miranda Kerr by Rachel Stone - February 28, 2014 Miranda Kerr channeled Audrey Hepburn in a tea length, black H&M dress at the H&M A/W 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week. She looked so beautiful and demure and just like a little doll. The dress itself is a classic and every girl should own something like this. I love when H&M creates a dress like this - it is so chic and easy to wear and could easily be from a high end designer. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/27/14 - Chloe Sevigny by Rachel Stone - February 27, 2014 I always love seeing Chloe Sevigny on the carpet. Her quirky style always keeps me on my toes and just when I think I've figured her out, she goes and wears a LBD! But this is Chloe Sevigny after all so her version of an LBD does have a fun twist! Are you loving the huge white petticoat sticking out as much as I am? After seeing this picture I immediately looked up Katy Rodriguez and decided I must own this dress. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/26/14 - Emmy Rossum by Rachel Stone - February 26, 2014 I can't believe I have not featured the beautiful Emmy Rossum as my Fashion Photo of the Day since last August. I don't know how that can be but clearly, I was waiting for this gorgeous J. Mendel moment. This chic and sexy dress is all about the double-sided tape! I don't know how these stars do it but Rossum was living dangerously in this dress with both the plunging neckline and the high slit up the leg. How did she sit down?! Fashion Photo of the Day 2/25/14 - Lupita Nyong'o by Rachel Stone - February 25, 2014 I wonder what it must be like to be Lupita Nyong'o right now. She has been thrust on the world stage both as a new talent to pay attention to and a fashion force to be reckoned with. And clearly she has had her pick of amazing dresses for this awards season. It must all be so thrilling and overwhelming, but hopefully she is taking it all in. It's not every day you get to get all dolled up for a red carpet in one amazing dress after another. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/20/14 - Katy Perry by Rachel Stone - February 20, 2014 I love me some Katy Perry. She has mastered the art of mixing sexy with quirky which is not an easy task. And no matter what, Perry always stays true to herself. I am absolutely in love with this Vivenne Westwood dress. It has a vintage, Stepford Wives feel but is also very modern and sultry. It hugs Perry's gorgeous figure perfectly and is giving her cleavage for days! Give me a corset, cleavage and a some draping around my stomach any day of the week and I am one happy girl. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/19/14 - Emma Watson by Rachel Stone - February 19, 2014 Emma Watson is at it again. This girl knows how to make a fashion statement, push the envelope while always staying in within the classic boundaries. I know - kind of a contradiction but totally makes sense to me. Watson always sticks with classic colors and/or silhouettes but is not shy about going for it with her makeup, styling or some design in the garment. Her red Dior dress over black pants combo at the 2014 SAG Awards is a perfect example: it was chic, simple yet a totally bold choice. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/14/14 - Jessica Brown-Findlay by Rachel Stone - February 14, 2014 This picture just seemed like the perfect choice for Valentine's Day. Jessica Brown-Findlay looks like a cream and pink cupcake in Dior at the London premiere of her new film Winter's Tale. It is fun seeing her all dolled up in make up which is a far cry from the under made-up Lady Sybil on Downton Abbey. It doesn't really matter - down up or not - Brown-Findlay is stunning and her beauty is only enhanced with makeup. She is a rare beauty who glows without it. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/13/14 - Amy Adams by Rachel Stone - February 13, 2014 Stop it Amy Adams, just stop it with your amazing fashion. I cannot handle you! Adams has always dressed beautifully on the carpet but lately she has stepped it up a notch. I think something changed since playing such a sexy role in American Hustle. I find Adams' fashion choices to be more daring and definitely sexier. Just take her plunging neckline from this year's Golden Globes. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/12/14 - Olivia Munn by Rachel Stone - February 12, 2014 There are very few people who I can think of who can wear an orange gown and look this amazing. Carolina Herrera is one of my favorites when it comes to gowns. In fact, she is one of my dream designers to dress me for a major event. And although I love the cut of this dress, I just don't get the fabric. I think the print is really interesting but the color is odd to me. That being said, I think Munn looks amazing and is making me love a dress that I initially do not like. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/11/14 - Bella Thorne by Rachel Stone - February 11, 2014 alice + olivia has always been one of my favorite labels and I always look forward to their new collections. I also love seeing who gets to attend the collection presentation, and of course, what A + O pieces they are wearing! I think that Bella Thorne is so adorable and beautiful. She is like a modern day Rapunzel, long braid and all. She is one of the few people who can pull this look off and not look like they were trying too hard. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/10/14 - Uma Thurman by Rachel Stone - February 10, 2014 You know those features in gossip magazines where they put two pictures of a star, and you have to pick which one is real and which one is their wax figure? Looking at this picture of Uma Thurman makes me think someone swapped her wax figure from Madame Tussauds with the real Uma Thurman at Berlinale International Film Festival. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, really! Its just she looks almost too perfect and too statuesque to be real. But I know she is real, I am just saying, she looks really really really beautiful! Fashion Photo of the Day 2/6/14 - Naomie Harris by Fernando Solla Rosell - February 7, 2014 How stunning is Naomie Harris? The British Skyfall actress looked amazing in a 20's inspired Naeem Khan cocktail dress. I sometimes think I was born in the wrong era because I always gravitate to the 1920's in fashion and design. Not that my body is as boxy as some of those women to pull of the silhouette as succesfully but I do love a great fringed beaded dress like this one. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/5/14 - Keri Russell by Rachel Stone - February 5, 2014 I love Keri Russell - just wanted to make that perfectly clear. And we all know I am a fan of classic black and white ensembles. But some how this outfit went awry. I think this is a situation where less would have been so much more. Right now my eye doesn't know where to look first and that's never a good thing. At the end of the day, you want to shine through an amazing outfit, you don't want the outfit to wear you. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/4/14 - Gwyneth Paltrow by Rachel Stone - February 4, 2014 I am at a loss for words with this one...almost! Gwyneth Paltrow looked breathtaking at the Golden Camera Awards in Berlin. I know, I have never heard of these awards either but it doesn't matter and it definitely didn't stop Gwyneth from pulling out all the stops. She wore a to-die-for slinky, sequined pink Prada dress. I never thought I would write those words in the same sentence, but well, there you have it. This is really old school Hollywood glamour at it's best. Fashion Photo of the Day 2/3/14 - Elizabeth Banks by Rachel Stone - February 3, 2014 So what does one wear to a daytime film premiere of a kids film? I don't know, but I think Elizabeth Banks nailed it. Banks looks fun and flirty while still staying on trend. Banks mixed the always in style black and white combination with a strong pop of Pantone's color of the year, radiant orchid. I think small pops of radiant orchid are a really clever way to test the waters of a new trend before jumping in full force. Fashion Photo of the Day 1/31/14 - Delta Goodrem by Rachel Stone - January 31, 2014 Oh. My. Goodrem! Australian singer/song writer Delta Goodrem absolutely nailed it at the AACTA Awards in Sydney this week. The blonde goddess wore a raspberry colored Michael Costello dress that hugged her in all the right places. She is beauty and sex personified. This is what they mean when they say leave it up to the imagination. Only a tiny bit of skin is showing but this is one of the sexiest but yet incredibly chic dresses I have ever seen. Well done Michael Costello. I have a feeling his upcoming label is about to soar! Fashion Photo of the Day 1/30/14 - Cate Blanchett by Rachel Stone - January 30, 2014 All hail Cate Blanchett. I know she has been busy working in Australia for the past few years but the red carpet has been missing her! I am happy she has been fulfilled artistically but now I am happy she is back on the scene so we can all bask in her beauty. She has nailed it recently at every big event and the AACTA Awards in Australia are no exception. I can hardly wait until Oscars - you just know she will be on everyone's best dressed list. Fashion Photo of the Day 1/29/14 - Kim Kardashian by Rachel Stone - January 29, 2014 Kim Kardashian was out and about in Paris with her man, Kanye West, to attend the Stephane Rolland Couture fashion show. Kardashian, still rocking the blonde locks, looked like a vision in wintery silver. Not many people could pull off a silver silk jumpsuit but Kim totally nailed it. I am even loving that she didn't try to fix the very revealing drape on the top. Wardrobe malfunction? Nope. Fashion Photo of the Day 1/28/14 - Felicity Jones by Rachel Stone - January 28, 2014 I love this Alexander McQueen dress (is it a dress?) on Felicity Jones. It may be a to-die-for top and skirt - regardless, I am in love. There is so much drama packed into what is really a simple look: gold top, black bottom. But what McQueen has done with them makes me envious that it is not in my closet right now so I can parade around my apartment looking just as divine. Fashion Photo of the Day 1/27/14 - Anna Kendrick by Rachel Stone - January 27, 2014 The Grammy Awards are always interesting when it comes to fashion. It's a night of daring and bold choices where really, anything goes. Some stars opt for something risque while others go for over the top drama. Regardless, the red carpet is always an event not to be missed. Fashion Photo of the Day 1/15/14 - Elisabeth Moss by Rachel Stone - January 15, 2014 Elisabeth Moss not only took home a Golden Globe Sunday night she also was one of my best dressed. I absolutely loved this pre-fall 2014 J Mendel dress and was pretty surprised to hear it was a J Mendel. Kate Mara also wore a J Mendel dress, hers being a silver deep plunging gown, which to me seems more typical of their label. This deep ruby and black sequined chevron pattern is definitely chic and beautiful and is a bit funkier than I have seen from them before. |
