Festival Ballet Providence (FBP) opens its Black Box Theatre to imagination and adventure with an utterly captivating staging of THE LITTLE PRINCE. Boyko Dossev's gorgeous choreography for this production shows off the finest, most sophisticated skills of FBP's dancers, and the company dazzles with a compelling and complex performance. In a season dedicated to celebrating FBP's ruby anniversary, THE LITTLE PRINCE stands out as a real gem.

'It's a dream come true,' says dancer Brendan Saye. Recently promoted to First Soloist, Saye will be making two role debuts this season with the National Ballet of Canada - the Lead Man in James Kudelka's 'The Four Seasons' (part of 'Made in Canada') and Prince Florimund in Rudolf Nureyev's production of Tchaikovsky's 'The Sleeping Beauty'. Talking to BroadwayWorld.com's Taylor Long, Saye discusses his love for Riverdance as a child, the illness that forced him to take a two-year break from dancing, and the special place 'The Four Seasons' holds in his heart.

Trailblazer: The Story of Ballerina Raven Wilkinson is a new children's book, that tells the little-known story of the world-renowned Raven Wilkinson- the first African American woman to dance for a major classical ballet company. This biography was written by Leda Schubert with illustrations by Theodore Taylor III and a forward by ABT Principal dancer Misty Copeland.

Some 90 captivating minutes of creative, imaginative movement, Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project features the superb dancers of Nashville Ballet at their finest, bringing to life history in such a way that left their audiences rapt, riveted to the smallest of moments and the largest of themes as they are conveyed onstage to a stunning, stirring musical score.

In a first experience observing the company, overall they were most effective as turners rather than jumpers, with masterful articulation of their legs and torsos. Story ballets provide an opportunity to maximize each company member (several taking on multiple roles). With the moderate size of the company, a clear camaraderie propelled the partnering.

The Sunday matinee performance, on December 17, 2017, The State Ballet Theatre of Russia performed the iconic ballet The Nutcracker. This company brought the enchantment from the East to the venue of On Stage at Kingsborough Community College. A sold-out performance! The audience was comprised mostly of local Brighton Beach and other Brooklynites. The music of The Nutcracker is one of my top three favorite ballet scores and there are numerous reasons for that. Yet, my favorite reason is the ease by which choreography can be created for each piece of this fairy tale.

Ballet Arizona is pleased to announce that Anthony Jones has been named the new School Director for The School of Ballet Arizona, the result of a search that included both national and international candidates. Mr. Jones will join the organization February 12, 2018, taking responsibility for The School of Ballet Arizona's full range of classical ballet training which includes its School Year program, Summer Intensive, and Studio Company, attracting students from around the nation and the world.

Returning for its annual Kennedy Center engagement, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) brings two different programs to the Opera House stage,January 30 February 4. Whipped Cream, the acclaimed all-new, evening-length work from world-renowned choreographer and ABT Artist-in-Residence Alexei Ratmansky, makes its D.C. premiere February 1 4, while a program of repertory works, January 30 and 31, includes the D.C. premieres of Ratmansky's Serenade after Plato's Symposium and Benjamin Millepied's I Feel the Earth Move.

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada today announced Five Creations, featuring five new works developed through the company's two-year Choreographic Workshop. The new works will be presented at two public performances at the Betty Oliphant Theatre, January 18 - 19, 2018.
