Last month, Cutting Edge Composers held their concert at 54 Below, and one of the highlights of the evening included 'The Last Loser in the Universe' by Drew Gasparini being sung by the incredibly talented Ben Platt, who is currently starring in The Book of Mormon on Broadway. Adam Kantor and Preston Sadleir brought this song to life at our concert at Joe's Pub - check out their performance below!

This week we have a real treat for you! Here is a video of TONY Award-winner Alice Ripley and Meghann Fahy singing The Flame' by Zoe Sarnak at our Joe's Pub concert of Zoe's new musical, A Lasting Impression.

This week's featured composers are Eli Bolin and Sam Forman whose song 'The Way You Move' from their new musical VOLLEYGIRLS, was performed by original cast member Allison Posner and producer Monica Raymund at at the Laurie Beechman Theater.

This week's featured composer is Virginia Hart Pike, whose song 'Out on the Edge' was sung beautifully by Cristin Hubbard and Mary Mossberg at our concert at Joe's Pub.

This week we are excited to feature Michael Patrick Walker, composer of the popular musical Altar Boyz, and his song "Someday." 13's Al Calderon, who recently appeared on The X Factor, sang this song at our concert at NYMF.

Today, Cutting Edge Composers is thankful for its talented composers, especially Will Reynolds. His song 'I Knew a Boy' was sung by Spring Awakening's Blake Daniel at their concert at the Canal Room. When asked about his inspiration for writing this song, Will said 'The first lyric is 'We sneak by disaster-free courting catastrophe' which basically sums up my experience as a 20-something. 'I Knew a Boy' was a warning to myself when I realized I had let myself get a little too lost.'

This week CEC is proud to share a video of Emma Hunton singing 'We Were Children' by one of our favorite new composers, Anna Dagmar. The talented Hunton performed this song at our CEC concert at NYMF.

We have a real treat for you today! Tituss Burgess, star of TV's '30 Rock' and well-known for his original roles in Broadway musicals like Guys and Dolls and Disney's The Little Mermaid, is also an extremely talented singer/songwriter. We were lucky enough to hear him perform his song 'I'll Be Alright' at our concert at the Canal Room. Now, we are thrilled to share it on Broadwayworld.

We have no tricks, but definitely a treat for you this week: a song from Sean Mahoney and Creighton Irons' musical Factory Girls! Brooke Sunny Moriber is on lead vocals, while Alison Cusano, Kate Ferber and Molly Hager sing backup in this video loaded with girl power from our CEC concert at the Canal Room.

Today CEC is shining our spotlight on long-time writing partners Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk. Their song 'Last Week's Alcohol' was performed by Matt Doyle, talented star of stage and screen, at our concert at the Canal Room. We are thrilled to share it with all of you on Broadwayworld!

Welcome to our first edition of "Cutting-Edge Composers In the Studio" exclusively on Broadwayworld.com! Today, we are in the studio with Joe Iconis, and his collaborators Jason Sweettooth Williams and Lance Rubin. You can hear Joe discuss his inspiration for writing, his experience with SMASH, what it's like to work with the Joe Iconis Family, and his upcoming projects. These talented gentlemen also shared a live performance of the song "Outlaw" from their show Bloodsong of Love and a song from their new musical in progress entitled Annie Golden: Bounty Hunter, Yo! Joe sent us this synopsis for his latest creative endeavor: What if musical theater legend Annie Golden starred in a show as a bad-ass action hero?' That was the idea that led to this musical, Annie Golden: Bounty Hunter, Yo, which uses the conventions---both theatrical and musical---of 70's blaxploitation films to tell the story of a widowed down-on-her-luck theatre actress who becomes a bounty hunter and goes on a journey of self-discovery and serious ass-kicking.

This week's featured composer is Benjamin Velez. Benjamin Velez is a composer/lyricist and recent Columbia University graduate where he studied film and wrote the 114th Annual Varsity Show. He is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater workshop where he was named the Jerry Harrington award winner for the 2nd year workshop. His work has been featured as part of AWOL's 8 Minute Musicals at NYMF, The Platform concert series, and in last year's NEO concert. He is currently workshopping his original musical Afterland with collaborator Kathryn Hathaway, and recently premiered the title song at Joe's Pub as part of the latest CEC concert. While originally from Miami, he is now happy to call New York home sweet home.
