On the episode, we recap both the TV and Movie winners at the Golden Globes, and take a deep dive into this year's Oscar nominations. We talk snubs, make predictions, and address the issue of diversity in entertainment.

However, there is far more to Patti's TV viewing habits than just Rose Ceremonies and Fantasy Suites. In the first edition of BWW's TV Ten, I asked Patti 10 questions about her favorite TV shows and her experiences as a TV star. She talks her favorite shows, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, and her BACHELOR traditions.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the extremely popular Theater People Podcast will host its first ever live show this Sunday, January 11th, at 5:30pm at Fontana's in Manhattan. The special episode will feature two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes and a special performance from KINKY BOOTS' Ellyn Marie Marsh.

This Sunday, ABC launches GALAVANT, a brand new musical comedy extravaganza from the Tony, Grammy, and Oscar winning composer Alan Menken ('The Little Mermaid,' 'Aladdin,' 'Beauty and the Beast'). Recently, I spoke with stars Joshua Sasse and Karen David via telephone about the show. ABC was kind enough to record their responses in this video. I would have been on camera as well, but, as you can tell by my voice, I was pretty under-the-weather when we spoke.

Golden Globe and two time-Tony winner Bernadette Peters is one of the most respected and reveered performers in the history of the Broadway stage, but her career spans far beyond the lights of Times Square. She starred in Oscar nominated film PENNIES FROM HEAVENS and Mel Brooks' SILENT FILM, and she was a regular on THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW, ALLY MCBEAL, and SMASH. Beginning on December 23rd, Peters will be featured in the original dark comedy MOZART IN THE JUNGLE from Amazon Studios.

The recently reimagined tour of iconic musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is in the middle of its stop at Orlando's brand new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Last week, after their first preview performance, stars Katie Travis (Christine Daae), Jacquelynne Fontaine (Carlotta Giudicelli), and Frank Viveros (Ubaldo Piangi) sat down with media to discuss the changes made to the show, the gorgeous Walt Disney Theatre, and being a part of the 'Phantom Phamily.'

The new independent film TAKE CARE stars Leslie Bibb and Thomas Sadoski. Since 1998, Sadoski has been one of the most reliable performers in the New York theatre community, being seen in world premieres by Lucy Thurber, Rajiv Joseph, Neil LaBute, and and Jon Robin Baitz, amongst many others. He earned a Tony-nom for REASONS TO BE PRETTY, and Obie and Lucille Lortel Awards for the original Off-Broadway production of OTHER DESERT CITIES.

On Wednesday, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA National Tour set up shop at Orlando's new Walt Disney Theatre in the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The extravagant, reimagined production will play in the City Beautiful through December 14th, and BroadwayWorld Orlando will have full coverage of the production.

It's “inconceivable” to think of all of the memorable roles that Wallace Shawn has played in his career (see what I did there?). As I've said numerous times in my reviews and recaps, I don't think there is a show on television more important for the future of the arts than SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. When I was given the opportunity to review the Extended DVD release of THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, I balked at first, having never seen or read anything 'Hobbit' or 'Lord of the Rings' related. However, seeing an opportunity to fill in a gap in my pop cultural knowledge, I agreed, and when I got the DVDs in the mail, I called the biggest LOTR dork I know, my brother.

This fall, I have found a new half-hour comedy that has become Must See TV for me, MARRY ME. There is something so cool about good jazz music. It conjures up images of men in suits, drinking top-shelf scotch in dimly-lit clubs, lounging in rich, elegant gold and maroon furnishings. When I think of jazz musicians, I think of people with a certain level of sophistication; people who appreciate the finer things in life; people who are, honestly, a little intimidating.

Over the last month of this past summer, a new musical was exciting everyone involved with the Atlanta theatre community. However, it wasn't playing at the Alliance, or Actor's Express, or Serenbe, or at any other theatre really; instead THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE played two nights at a Java Monkey Café, and, in a private concert version, in the Aurora Theatre's black box.

So often, movies adapted from books are unable to navigate the pitfalls of translating introspective thoughts and first person narration on the page into tangible action on the screen. However, in GONE GIRL, author Gillian Flynn has effectively boiled down the very essence of her novel into a taut, enthralling script. Since no one knows this story better than Flynn, she was able to hand-pick the perfect elements from the Best Selling book to create a screenplay even more suspenseful and exhilarating than the source material, believe it or not.

'The Secret' works, y'all! Don't believe me? Ask Tony-winner Laura Benanti. The Queen of Social Media is about to kick off a run on her favorite TV Show tonight at 10:00pm ET. Benanti will play singer/songwriter Sadie Stone, on ABC's NASHVILLE.

In one of the most inappropriate announcements in entertainment history, Tony-nominee and FROZEN star Santino Fontana has been cast in Showtime comedy pilot CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND. Also part of the cast will be Broadway alum Donna Lynne Champlin. Series creator Rachel Bloom announces the principal cast in perhaps the most insecure way possible.

Recently I spoke with Tamala Jones, who plays Dr. Lanie Parish, on CASTLE. Despite being left in the dark for the entire hiatus, she promises that Season 7 is going to hit the ground running, and there might be something major happening for everyone shipping and writing fan-fiction about 'Esplaine.' Jones also talked about a new role that is very dear to her heart.

As I said in the initial episode, But, Wait! What? will be a blog and video series that brings you interviews, commentary, and conversations about things from all corners of the pop culture world. In our first video, I discussed the Fall TV season with the creators of the web comedy THE RESIDUALS (they are in the last week of their Season 2 KickStarter, check it out), and this week I talk to Patrick Hinds, the host of the Theater People Podcast, about the star-studded fall season on Broadway.
