Cast of Phantom Tour Stages Benefit in Detroit

As the effort continues in the fight against AIDS, members from the touring cast of “The Phantom of the Opera” are hosting a gala event, “Detroit Concert for a Cure,” at the Gem Theatre on Monday, March 14 (7 p.m.). “The Phantom of the Opera” cast members (who can also be seen March 2-27 at the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit) will perform some of their favorite songs as well as Broadway favorites. Special guests and celebrities from Broadway, Detroit’s Cast of “Menopause the Musical(TM)”, The Macombers Show Choir, Oakland University and local high school students will join the Cast of “The Phantom of the Opera.” Tickets are now on sale and all proceeds from the evening’s event (tickets and silent auction) will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA).

Sure to out-do last year's collection, 40 one-of-a-kind BROADWAY BEARS - each dressed in original, handmade costumes representing some of the theater's most legendary performers and/or performances - will be put up for auction.

Through the years, the GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION has become one of the hottest and most anticipated tickets of the fall season. New York's most talented 'gypsies,' chorus members from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, join in a competition/variety show as six weeks of intensive fundraising by the community come to a close with the 16th ANNUAL GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION. This year's competition will take place at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street) on Monday, December 6 at 4:30PM and Tuesday, December 7 at 2:00PM. A limited number of VIP ($350) and Priority ($200) tickets are available. Tickets range from $20-90.
