In a profile for The Boston Globe, mega-producer, theater-owner and all-around theatre impresario Cameron Mackintosh revealed he thinks Neil Patrick Harris would be 'perfect' to star in his reworked version of BARNUM, which is set to launch a UK tour this September (starring Brian Conley). That is, if Harris's 'schedule ever opens up'.

Next Christmas, Leicester will be alive with The Sound of Music as Curve will be producing a brand new version of the heart-warming, award-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical; and the UK tour of Barnum launches there in the summer.

According to The Stage, Cameron Mackintosh has teamed up with producer Michael Harrison to tour the musical Barnum around the UK, launching in 2014. Barnum was originally written by Mark Bramble, book, and Michael Stewart, lyrics, with the music composed by By Coleman. The tour production is considered a 'revised version' which was produced at the Chichester Festival Theatre earlier this year.

The Hartt School presents the musical circus spectacle Barnum Thursday through Saturday, October 24 through 26, at 7:30 PM; and Sunday, October 27, at 3:00 PM. BARNUM: a delightful play based on the life of showman P. T. Barnum. This man captivated the nation's attention, especially during the bleak and arduous years of the American Civil War; the musical covers the period from 1835 through 1880, both in America and major cities of the world where Barnum took his performing companies. His sidekick, Charles Sherwood Stratton, also known under the stage name General Tom Thumb, was a sensation in London, where Queen Victoria invited him to perform live at her palace, holding his hand and serving as his personal guide.

According to the Daily Mail, Tamsin Carroll will play 'Charity Barnum' alongside Broadway's Christopher Fitzgerald as 'P. T. Barnum' in BARNUM at the Chichester Festival Theatre from July 15. The production will be directed by Timothy Sheader.
