Based on the novel by Ken Kesey, and written by Dale Wasserman, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" follows R.P. McMurphy -- a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than in a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake; he immediately clashes with the fierce, martinet head nurse Ratched. McMurphy winds up leading the other patients out of introversion; staging a revolt so that they can see the World Series on television; and even arranging a rollicking midnight party with liquor and “chippies.” Ultimately, however, he learns the hard way that insubordination will not be tolerated ...
