The Conejo Players to Hold PETER PAN Auditions, 5/13-15

The Conejo Players has announced auditions for PETER PAN, directed by Erin Fagundes with music direction by John Gaston, choreography by Miriam Durrie-Kirsch and produced by Jennifer Kilpatrick.

Auditions will be held May 13th through May 15th, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday at 7:00 PM at The Conejo Players Theatre, located at 351 South Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, Calif.

PETER PAN performance dates are July 13th through August 11th, 2012, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM, Sunday Matinees at 2:00 PM and Saturday Matinee on July 28th at 2:00 PM. No conflicts accepted for performance dates or the week before opening.

Bring a resume and a list of all potential conflicts including travel, etc. Bring sheet music in the proper key or CD with an accompaniment track. No a cappella auditions, and DO NOT SING SELECTIONS FROM THE PRODUCTION. Be prepared to dance with the appropriate attire and shoes. There will also be a cold reading portion of the audition.

No appointment necessary - open call auditions. There is no pay. Auditions might run late, so be prepared to stay the whole time.

NOTE: Actors auditioning for Peter, Wendy, Michael, John, and Jane must be comfortable flying (with flying harnesses/apparatus) and meet the weight requirements.

Plot: The story of a boy who refuses to grow up, Peter Pan is a delightful high-flying family spectacle! Peter Pan spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland as leader of his gang, the Lost Boys. The show's adventures begin when Peter teaches Wendy and her brothers how to fly and invites them to come with him to Never-Never-Land. Fly away with Peter, Tinkerbell, and the Darling children to a place where children can fly and exciting, frightening adventures happen every day. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Peter: Teen or adult. Mezzo, athletic, charismatic, youthful, must move well, gymnastics/athletic ability a plus. The role is traditionally played by woman.

Wendy: Teen. Soprano. Ingénue, graceful and proper but able to enjoy and lose herself in the fantasy and fun Peter brings. Must move well.

Michael: Child (age open - preferably 8-10 who can play younger). Requires a lot of focus and ability to pay attention and stay on task for a major rehearsal process and long run of the show. Must be young, innocent, and move well. Girls will be considered if they can convincingly look like a boy.

John: Age 12-15 boy with unchanged voice. Must seem intelligent and reserved, but also able to have fun and lose himself in the adventure. Must move well.

Mrs. Darling: Adult, mezzo, lovely, warm and caring. Mother of Wendy, Michael and John.

Mr. Darling/Captain Hook: This actor must be very versatile, as he plays both the uptight buT Loving father of Wendy, Michael and John and the villainous, sinister Captain Hook. High Baritone/Tenor, great comic timing.

Liza: Teen or adult. The Darlings' maid (will double as an Indian)

Nana: The Darlings' house servant, only she is not human! Nana is a large dog! The actor/actress must be able to meet the physical requirements of being on all fours and be extremely animated. Can double in other roles.

Crocodile: Hook's nemesis who is out to eat his other hand. Must be comfortable crawling on the floor. Can double in other roles.

Jane: Able to play 12-16. Grown Wendy's daughter who appears at the end of the show and flies to Neverland with Peter. Will double as other role. Must be young and sweet.

Smee: Teen or adult. Open to all types, sizes, and ethnicities. Funny sidekick to Captain Hook. Must move well and have good comic timing.

Lost Boys: Able to play 12-17, can be female if able to convincingly play a male. Must be able to sing harmony and move well, gymnastics a plus. High energy. All ethnicities, types, and sizes encouraged.

Tiger Lily: To play teen - matches Peter Pan in age. Excellent trained dancer (jazz, ballet). Strong, athletic, good rhythm. Must have high stamina. Featured dance role.

Indians: Male and female teens/adults. Kids may be considered if good movers/dancers. Must move well and some may double as pirates.

Pirates: Teen/adults. All types, sizes, ethnicities. Must move well and have good rhythm and comedic timing. Dancing a plus.
