TITANIC Opens Musical Theatre Guild's 2012 Season Today, 9/30

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation presents Musical Theatre Guild's TITANIC in the Janet & Ray Scherr Forum Theatre at 3:00 p.m. today, September 30, 2012. The opening performance will take place on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals for the past 17 years.

Although plagued with technical problems and bad word of mouth during its preview period, TITANIC overcame those obstacles and went on to run 804 performances and win all five of the 1997 Tony Awards for which it was nominated, including Best Musical. With a score by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone (both Tony® winners for this show), TITANIC was hailed by The New Yorker as "grave and entertaining, somber and joyful... a genuine addition to American musical theatre." MTGs staging commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the tragic event.

Starring in TITANIC's large cast are MTG members: Dina Bennett, Chuck Bergman, Teri Bibb, Dan Callaway, Doug Carfrae, Robin DeLano, Zachary Ford, Steven Hack, Joe Hart , David Holmes, Carol Kline, Shauna Markey, William Martinez, Erick McEwen, Lisa Picotte and Jeffrey Christopher Todd with guest artists Stan Chandler, Jeanette Dawson, T.J. Dawson, Tessa Grady, John LaLonde, Kristen Lamoureux, Payson Lewis, Ian Littleworth, Jeffrey Scott Parsons, Carter Thomas, Joy Weiser, Peter Welkin and David Zack. The Musical will be directed by Calvin Remsberg with musical direction by Julie Lamoureux and is under the production coordination of Heather Hoppus-Werner and Kim Huber.
