Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center proudly presents the powerfully provocative musical NEXT TO NORMAL from April 21 - May 27, 2018. With poignant lyrics by Brian Yorkey and a powerful contemporary rock score by Tom Kitt (American Idiot), NEXT TO NORMAL is an insightful and fiercely honest story of love, loss and family life, exploring how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness.
Boasting the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three Tony Awards including best musical score, NEXT TO NORMAL was also chosen as "one of the year's ten best shows" by critics around the country, including The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The New York Times. Cathartic and ultimately uplifting, NEXT TO NORMAL challenges us to ask the question, 'What is normal?' SVCAC presents this award winning musical in recognition of National Mental Health Awareness Month of May 2018.
NEXT TO NORMAL will feature Mazie Rudolph as Diana, Trevor March as Gabe, Kayley Stallings as Natalie, Nick Newkirk as Dan, Andrew Allen as Henry, and Craig Sherman as Dr. Madden.
Fred Helsel will direct and produce with Tyler Stouffer as Musical Director and Tori Cusack as Choreographer. Seth Kamenow leads the design team as Production Designer with Michael Rathbun as Lighting Designer, Fred Helsel as Costumer, Kevin Kahm as Sound Designer, Fred Helsel as Props Master, Kimberly Kiley as Stage Manager, Caitlyn Rose Massey as Rehearsal Stage Manager, and Dean Foster as Deck Manager.
NEXT TO NORMAL runs April 21 - May 27, 2018 with performances Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 2 pm and on Thursday, May 24th at 8 pm. There is no performance on Friday. April 27th. Tickets are $25 Adults, $22 Students/Seniors 60 & Above and can be purchased online at www.simi-arts.org or by calling (805) 583-7900. Due to mature themes this show is recommended for audiences 14 & over.
