The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will conclude its 16th season with SHENANDOAH, a production commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. The opening performance will take place on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 7:30 PM at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. A second, and final, performance will occur on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum.
With a passionate Country & Western score, SHENANDOAH is the rousing, moving story of Charlie Anderson, a Southern pacifist who is forced to take action when his youngest son is taken prisoner during the war. Launched in 1975 at
Goodspeed Opera House and transferring to Broadway, SHENANDOAH ran for 1,050 thrilling performances and won Best Book of a Musical and Best Actor TONY® Awards, solidifying
John Cullum's leading man status.

The Musical
Theatre Guild's 17
th Anniversary 2012-2013 season will open in September 2012 and includes such titles as: CALL ME MADAM, CHESS, GIRL CRAZY, and the Los Angeles area premieres of A CATERED AFFAIR and DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY. For the first time in its history, MTG will present all five shows in both venues.
