PLOT SUMMARY:
In this retelling of a Biblical story, Joseph is his father's favorite child. He is given a glorious multi-colored coat by his father. None of his eleven brothers had ever received such a grand gift, giving rise to their jealousy of Joseph. The brothers sell Joseph into slavery to some passing Ishmaelites and return home with his bloodied coat, telling their father of Joseph's "death." Joseph is then purchased by Potiphar, works in his palace, and is noticed by Potiphar's wife. Joseph refuses her advances but because she lies to her husband, Joseph is sent to jail. A baker and a butler, also in jail, learn of Joseph's ability to interpret dreams. When the butler is released from jail, he tells Pharaoh of Joseph's talent to interpret dreams and Pharaoh is so impressed that he appoints Joseph to the post of "Number Two" in Egypt. Some years later, a terrible famine occurs but due to Joseph's foresight, Egypt is not starving and he is in charge of the first recorded rationing to Egypt's residents. Joseph's brothers come to Egypt seeking food, meet with Joseph to ask for his assistance, but do not recognize him. Joseph decides to give his brothers a scare, but eventually grants them all they desire, reveals his identity, and reunites the entire family!!
