Conejo Players Announces Upcoming Educational Workshops

The Conejo Players Theatre has announced its upcoming workshops and classes for 2010.

MUSICAL THEATER AUDITION WORKSHOP FOR KIDS #1??Instructor: Staff ?Saturday, February 20 ?10 - 4
and?Saturday, February 27?6 PM ?Ages: 7 - 13?Class Limit: 40
Workshops are geared towards newcomers to theatre and cover a wide variety of audition elements.  Students will learn about and practice basic audition tips, cold readings, choreography, picking and singing a song, and improvisation/theatre games.  The second day consists of Mock Auditions where students will audition for an imaginary show.  A team of community theatre experts will provide feedback for students to take home

MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMANCE FOR TEENS AND ADULTS
Instructor: Dick DeBenedictis ?Tuesdays, March 16 - April 6?5:30 - 7PM?Ages: Teen to Adult?Class Limit 20??Class will cover the dramatic perspective of performing a song, what kinds of dramatic choices the student can make and using the lyric like a script

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR ADULTS
 
Instructor: Phil Wieck ?Wednesdays, March 17 - April 7?5:30 - 7 PM?Ages: 16 and up?Class Limit 20
 
Should have some theatrical experience.  Student should come with an idea of one character they would like to develop.  (Does not have to be a dramatic character)

LIGHTING DESIGN
Instructor: Jack Allway?Wednesdays, May 12 - May 19?5:30 PM?Ages 13 and up?Class Limit: None
Workshop will be led by the Associate Director of the Alex Theater who has extensive Lighting Design experience.  Jack has lighted many a show at CPT.

STAGE MANAGEMENT
Instructor: Jim Diderrich ?Saturday May 22 and Sunday, May 23 ?5:30 PM?Ages 16 and up?Class Limit: None
Workshop will include stage managers responsibilities, people skills and calling a show and will include practical experience.
Jim has stage managed, tech'd and acted in many shows the past 32 years - and some shows were a mixture of some or all of those jobs.  Among the most notable local organizations Jim has stage managed shows are Conejo Players Theatre, Santa Susanna Reporatory Company, and Kingsmen Shakespeare Company.

YOUTH DANCE
Instructor: Megan Rayzor ?Saturday, May 29 and Saturday, June 5 ?5:30 PM?Ages 7 - 13?Class Limit: 20
 
Workshop will be geared towards teaching the basics to beginners.

ACTING OUT VOCALS FOR TEENS AND ADULTS
Instructor: Erin Fagundes ?Tuesdays, October 5 - 26 ?5:30 - 7 PM?Ages 13 and up?Class Limit: 20
Workshop will focus on  picking songs for students repertoire, vocal work and acting work.  Students should have some experience with musical theater and/or auditions.

SINGING CLASS FOR ADULTS
Instructor: Linda Stiegler ?Wednesdays, October 6 - 27?5:30 - 7 PM?Ages 16 and up?Class Limit: 20
Workshop will include phrasing, dynamics and breath control.

Instructor: Staff ?Saturday, November 13?10 - 4?and?Sunday, November 21 ?5:00 PM?Ages 7 - 13?Class Limit:40
