Director of Development Maureen O'Boyle Feldman and Artistic Director Lewis Wilkenfeld proudly announce Cabrillo Music Theatre's first-ever Annual Campaign. Dubbed the CABRILLO CORNERSTONE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN, this drive will roll out over the next three months, culminating in a grand concert fundraiser that will become the "place to be" for entertainment and support for the community. Along the way will be numerous events surrounding Cabrillo's summer production of OKLAHOMA!, plus the return of one of Cabrillo's most popular and successful events, the Cabrillo Dance Marathon. The CABRILLO CORNERSTONE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN takes place at various locations in Thousand Oaks and surrounding areas between now and August 29th, 2015.
Cabrillo Music Theatre's "Beyond the Footlights" Community Outreach programs provide year-round support in ways that impacts tens of thousands every year. Cabrillo provides live entertainment for underserved children, the U.S. Military and their families, older Americans who can't get out to see Cabrillo's shows, an animal rescue program, theatre education programs for kids and teens, and partners with, and provides support for, over eighty other local non-profit organizations. Like all non-profit theatre companies, Cabrillo Music Theatre (a 501(c)(3) organization) cannot survive on ticket sales alone.
Says Lewis Wilkenfeld, Cabrillo Music Theatre's Artistic Director, "Who knew that last year's fundraising efforts - which we thought was a last-ditch effort to allow Cabrillo to go forward - was, in reality, our first-ever Annual Campaign?" Adds Wilkenfeld, "The success of this season's productions - MEMPHIS, COMPANY, and MARY POPPINS - are due to the support provided by local businesses and individuals who wish to keep Broadway in Our Backyard. Now, with Cabrillo's value to the community now a proven entity, it's time for our fundraising efforts to match the rapid expansion of our productions and the many ways we give back to the community!"
Over the years, there is a greater-than-ever need for non-profit organizations to have a carefully-thought-out annual campaign. Overseeing the CABRILLO CORNERSTONE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN is Director of Development Maureen O'Boyle Feldman. "A strong annual campaign is the building block and the foundation for fund development efforts for almost all non-profits. Cabrillo is no different." Adds Feldman, "An annual campaign will not only provide the steady flow of income needed to continue our outreach programs, services, and community activities - it also will engage and inform our donors and supporters of our community efforts. Involving, informing, and bonding our subscribers and supporters to the organization strengthens our ties and allows Cabrillo to better serve our community."
The CABRILLO CORNERSTONE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN has launched with an ambitious letter-writing, e-mail, and phone campaign, which will include Cabrillo's biggest supporters taking a turn on the line. Efforts continue throughout the summer, with Cabrillo's OKLAHOMA! at the center of the action. After that, it's on to the 2nd Annual Cabrillo Dance Marathon, on August 7th and 8th, once again held at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts in Thousand Oaks. The Campaign will conclude on August 29thwith a magical evening of music under the stars at the Gardens of the World, featuring some of Cabrillo's greatest talents, with details and stars to be announced later in the summer.
In 2014, over one thousand individual donors and businesses contributed to Cabrillo's campaign, and, in doing so, voiced their passionate desire to keep Cabrillo Music Theatre alive. In 2015, the CABRILLO CORNERSTONE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN will bring the community together again, to enable Cabrillo Music Theatre to grow and thrive, and to keep Broadway in our Backyard for generations to come.
