Cabrillo Music Theatre has announced a new entertainment series that serves as both entertainment and fundraiser for Cabrillo's OUTREACH programs. The CABRILLO FILM SERIES will present four movies per season, to coincide with each Cabrillo production. The premiere event will take place on January 23rd, at 7:00PM, and will focus on Johnny Cash, the subject of Cabrillo's next production, RING OF FIRE. The evening will feature a screening of the Academy Award-winning film, "Walk The Line," and will be followed by a discussion with Louis B. Robin, Johnny Cash's estate manager, with other guests to be announced. Muvico Theatre is located at 166 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.

The CABRILLO FILM SERIES combines Cabrillo Music Theatre, the Resident Musical Theatre Production Company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, with Muvico, the World's Premier Movie Experience, located at the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. The CABRILLO FILM SERIES will take place on Monday evenings, two to four weeks before each Cabrillo production. Films will be chosen for their ability to complement and illuminate the stories and themes of the stage shows. Admission is free, with donations encouraged, and proceeds to go to Cabrillo Music Theatre and its many OUTREACH programs.

"Our new film series serves two purposes," says Lewis Wilkenfeld, Cabrillo Music Theatre's Artistic Director. "It's a fundraiser for Cabrillo, a non-profit organization, but it's also a chance to see our upcoming show from another angle. For a show like RING OF FIRE, which uses the music of Johnny Cash to illuminate his life, 'Walk the Line' tells the actual story of the life of Johnny Cash." Continues Wilkenfeld, "We'll never simply show the movie based on our show – it's much more fun to come up with the movie that complements the show in a clever way."

Each screening will begin at 7:00PM, and will be followed by a discussion and question-and-answer session. The "Walk The Line" discussion will feature Johnny Cash's Estate Manager, Louis B. Robin, with more guests to be announced. Moderating will be Thousand Oaks Arts reviewer and lecturer Cary Ginell. Seating is limited, and reservations are required, via Cabrillo's website, www.cabrillomusictheatre.com. Future screenings will take place throughout the year, to shed new light on Cabrillo's upcoming productions of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, and beyond.

THE CABRILLO FILM SERIES: WALK THE LINE screens on Monday, January 23rd, 2012, at the Muvico Theatre in Thousand Oaks. It is rated PG-13. RING OF FIRE: THE MUSIC OF Johnny Cash performs February 3rd through the 12th, 2012, at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
