Theater League celebrates twenty years of presenting National Broadway Tours at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza with its 20th Anniversary Broadway in Thousand Oaks Season. The celebration begins with Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the smash-hit Broadway musical, followed by CAMELOT, a classic Broadway revival, BUDDY - THE Buddy Holly STORY, a jukebox musical loaded with classic hits, and CHICAGO, a hit musical with one show-stopping performance after another.
"We're excited to present our 20th Anniversary Season in Thousand Oaks. Our season members and tens of thousands of patrons have made these performances possible. In the process, we've been able to introduce thousands of young people to American musical theater through our Theater ROcKs (Reach Out to Kids) program, sponsored with the help of hundreds of season members," Theater League President, Mark Edelman said.
The curtain rises on the anniversary season December 4-7, 2014, with Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The most beautiful love story ever told comes to life in this lush, romantic Broadway musical for all generations. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes and dazzling production numbers including "Be Our Guest" and the beloved title song.
Next, CAMELOT takes the stage January 15-18, 2015. This four-time Tony Award-winning show tells the story of the time-honored legend of King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and the Knights of the Round Table in an enchanting fable of chivalry, majesty and brotherhood. The legendary King Arthur rules his kingdom with new ideals, bringing peace to a troubled land. When his beautiful new Queen Guinevere and the dashing Sir Lancelot, his most trusTed Knight, give in to their passions, one of the most fabled love triangles of all time ensues.
The third offering at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is BUDDY - THE Buddy Holly STORY, March 12-15, 2015. Before The Beatles or The Rolling Stones ever played a note, rock 'n' roll was forever changed by a 19-year-old kid from Texas. BUDDY-THE Buddy Holly STORY tells the true story of Buddy's meteoric rise to fame. The show features all of Holly's greatest hits including "That'll Be the Day," "Peggy Sue" and "Oh, Boy!"
On April 9-12, 2015, the 20th Anniversary Season comes to a dramatic close with CHICAGO, a universal tale of fame, fortune and "all that jazz." CHICAGO has been honored with six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations.
"The coming year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza and the Theater League series has been a part of our schedule since our very first year. Beginning with A Chorus Line in our inaugural season, Theater League continues to bring the best of Broadway to our community," said Barry McComb, Executive Director of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
Season tickets start at $115 for all four shows and payment plans are available.
