The Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 So. 7th St. in Santa Paula presents the original one-man show, THE STORIES OF CESAR CHAVEZ written and performed by Fred Blanco, in its alternative venue, BACK STAGE at the SANTA PAULA THEATER CENTER. THE STORIES OF CESAR CHAVEZ will run from tonight, April 3-Sunday, April 6 for a 4-day run with evening performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 pm and a Sunday matinee performance at 4pm.
FRED BLANCO, originator and solo artist in THE STORIES OR CESAR CHAVEZ, has long been active in the Southern California theater community. He has performed with a variety of theater companies including the national touring troup,TRAVELING LANTERN, THE CHAUTAUQUA LECTURE SERIES, and the acclaimed guerilla theater group, THE BAD PUPPETS. The award winning CESAR CHAVEZ show has traveled internationally and won awards for performance and content in Canada and the United States. He last appeared at SPTC with his one-man show of A CHRISTMAS CAROL in the holiday season of 2013.
CESAR CHAVEZ, organizer of United Farm Workers and a noted civil rights leader, will be portrayed by solo artist Fred Blanco in many stages of his life. Blanco will also portray many of the colorful supporting characters that composited Chavez's experience.
