The evening opens with Haydn’s buoyant Symphony No. 60, “Il Distrato.” This is followed by Toru Takemitsu’s dreamy soundscape Toward the Sea II, which is an apt prelude to Ravel’s dazzlingly lush symphonic palette of orchestral colors in the full ballet score of Daphnis et Chloé.
