Known for pulling at the threads of familiarity, Sedaris specializes in poignant comedy that is often mined from his unconventional childhood in North Carolina, his wildly varying stream of jobs, and his move to France with his partner. His most recent book, ?Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls forms the focus of this latest tour.
His last two book releases both appeared on the New York Times' Bestselling list (When You Are Engulfed in Flames and Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary), and Sedaris' quietly, wickedly witty observations of the ordinary-bizarre can keep audiences in fits of laughter for ages.
His comic debut came about in 1992 when he recounted his strange-but-true experiences of being a Macy's elf in his piece, "Santaland Diaries" on NPR's Morning Edition. His sardonic humor and incisive social critique have made him one of the station's most popular and humorous commentators and he also contributes to the BBC in the UK.
