mad Theatre of Tampa is proud to announce their next production opening of the Tony award-winning musical Spring Awakening on September 8, 2016 at the Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts.

With music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, Spring Awakening is an electrifying fusion of morality and sensuality with an alternative rock and folk score that has exhilarated audiences for years. Set in 1891 Germany, a world in which the adults hold all of the cards, Spring Awakening explores the journey of teenagers who are discovering the inner and outer turmoil of sexuality through trials and tribulations that are both illuminating and unforgettable.

mad Theatre of Tampa's production stars Mallory Quinn, Nicolas Burgos, Ricky Marenda, Karli Marie Gundersen, Chelsea Hooker, Connor Alfonso Hodge, Kristy Noel Carlson, Kevin Lara, Brie Golden, Drew Eberhard, Cody Carlson, Jessica Moraton, Jay Morgan, Jessica Sadler and Christopher Warren. Spring Awakening is produced for mad Theatre of Tampa by Cathy Hooten & Donald B. Holt, Jr., with music direction by Peter A. Belk and direction by Anthony Paul Gilkinson.

Spring Awakening is intended for mature audiences and features brief nudity. Show dates are:September 8 - 18, 2016 | Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8:00 p.m and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Straz Center is located at 1010 North W.C. MacInnnes Place, Tampa, FL. Tickets for the show are $32.50 for General Assigned Seating and $37.50 for VIP Seating. Tickets are available online atwww.strazcenter.org or by calling 813.229.STAR (7827).

mad Theatre of Tampa, a resident musical theatre company at the Straz Center, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our volunteer-based Board of Directors welcomes newcomers in all areas of performance. Our goal is to produce shows that make you laugh and think, while honoring diversity in our shows by inviting the culturally expanding community to celebrate their talent on the stage or to be a member of the audience. As a non-equity theatre company, our performers volunteer countless hours rehearsing and preparing our productions. Recent successes include bare: A Pop Opera, Avenue Q, Nunsense A-Men!, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Rocky Horror Show, RENT, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Next to Normal, [title of show], and Cabaret.
