With a limited engagement of just two performances, January 15 & 22, 2017, CWP Black Box at Carrollwood Players brings to the stage John Cariani's play, ALMOST, MAINE.
The antithesis of hot and humid Florida in January, ALMOST, MAINE is set in an isolated northern town on a frigid, snowy Friday, populated by off-beat characters falling in and out of love.
This whimsical collection of nine heartfelt romantic playlets features actors Isabel Bertram, Patricia Coyle, Samantha Janek, Robert Pelaia, Jim Moss, and Brian McCreight portraying 19 different characters.
The brief stories are focused on the magic and mystery that is love - filled with uncanny coincidences, literally-interpreted metaphors and idioms come to life. This happens in a town not quite a town - they're not organized enough to become official, so they remain "almost."
Returning director Michael Cote said, "People should come to see ALMOST, MAINE if they are in love, have been in love or plan to be in love because the play deals with aspects of love in many varied forms. It will give new insights into what being in love means."
This poignant and original approach to an often-cliché-ridden theme will transport the audience from laughter to tears and back again.
"Strange and mystical things can happen when you mix the Northern Lights with people in love. You don't want to miss this Twilight-Zone-y take on a small town with a big heart," said producer Jim Russell.
Carrollwood Players is located at 4333 Gunn Hwy. ALMOST, MAINE runs Sunday, January 15 & 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission. Tickets are available at www.carrollwoodplayers.org/almost-maine or carrollwood-players-theatre.ticketleap.com/maine.
