What if the grass really is greener on the other side?

"Windows" a new play from NYC writer Katie Mack, will make its world premiere at the first annual Tampa Fringe FestiVal May 11-14th, 2017. With direction by Nolan Muna and a cast of New York talent featuring Blane Pressler (National Tour: "Much Ado About Nothing") and the writer herself, Katie Mack (NYMF's "Trouble: A Rock Musical" and "Azreal Dissent" ). "Windows" explores what happens to a quaint suburban couple when their attractive and carefree neighbors move in across the street, and begs the question, "what does it mean to REALLY love thy neighbor?"

The play takes place in Anywhere, USA. The type of suburban neighborhood where Girl Scouts sell cookies, joggers can run at midnight, and no one locks their front door. What's not to love about living in the suburbs? Perhaps the younger more attractive couple who moves in across the street and neglects to put up curtains.

When talking with Mack about the piece, she comments, "We are in a day and age where self satisfaction comes from the constant comparison of ourselves to strangers. We get glimpses into people's lives through a click of a button on social media and develop strong opinions about and even relationships with these people who we have no real face to face communication with. I wanted to highlight this socially acceptable and creepy phenomenon through the eyes of a couple who obsess over another couple through a non-metaphorical window. It continues to be a testament that we are all connected and influence each other whether we like it or not". Mack also mentions that although the piece takes liberties, it was inspired by a heart breaking true story. When asked if the show was a comedy or a drama, Mack says "it's a story about life, which is both funny and sad, so both!"
