St. Petersburg City Theatre continues its 90th Mainstage Season, presented by Raymond James, with THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST. Opening night is tonight, March 6, 2015 and the production runs through March 22, 2015. There will be an opening night reception on March 6 featuring lobby entertainment provided by the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association and light refreshments.

Directed by David Middleton, THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST is set in Brookhaven, Mississippi a few days before the Fourth of July. Carnelle Scott (known locally as "Miss Hot Tamale") is furiously rehearsing for the Miss Firecracker Contest, hoping to repeat a victory her cousin Elain enjoyed years. This warm, irreverent comedy focuses on six eccentric characters as each goes all out to secure a better and brighter future.

The show plays Friday & Saturday evenings at 8pm; Sunday matinees at 2pm. Lobby will open 1 hour prior to the show, with doors to the audience chamber opening 30 minutes prior to the show. Tickets are $22 for adults; $10 for students with student I.D. Full price tickets ($24) may be purchased by phone or in person at our Box Office, or online at www.spcitytheatre.org.
